in this case, i think i'm quite selective b'coz u need to trust the person 1st before u want to help them.but this is not applicable in term of helping old man/woman b'coz 4 me that's necessary in our life.they're the group that really need our attention especially.
but there's a time that one day,one man with a fierce looking approach me and asking me for some money.he told me that he's out of penny and asking me about 3 dolars.then i refuse to give him.suddenly he grab my hand.at that time, there's no one around......to conclude the story finally he's spend me 3 times more than he owed me....
this experience actually doesn't really change my perception about my selectivity but i think its a good story to share.

I like to help people in need but selectively. For strangers, I am quite hesitant because they could be scams or they may be wary of my intentions. I prefer to help those I know. My daughter's classmate is from a low-income family. His mum is from China while his dad is chinese-educated. As such, the boy has difficulty learning english which is required in school. I offered him free home tuition. I am now looking for a part-time job for his mother to ease their financial problem. We have become good friends.
