I've been here a while and I find that there are a lot of people logging on and copying and pasting, posting silly questions, one word answers, and annoying the good users of this site. I really wanted a place that I could track all of them and have the links to their posts altogether. And I thought it would be nice if we could give credit to all the good users too, the ones who've created a great community atmosphere here.
So I had an old website that I don't use any more and I got a friend to set up a simple board on it. I'm going to start posting on it later and pay tribute to some of the great users on this site. Let me know what you think. It's at www.efol.eu. If you think of something that should be there then pm me on the site. I'm off to register on it now. I hope it takes off because I think it would be a great idea. :)

The copying & pasting (probably cheating)
had been discussed here atleast 10 times .
Mylot Admin has said that it is not being
tolerated . just use report button ...
however , if the topic requires just the
answer or authentic information then we
have to paste from other sources .
If the link to the original source is
given then I do not see any thing wrong
in pasting the relevant information .
But one should not copy the entire matter
from the web . And one should not start
a new topic from the copied content .
some of my responses are from wikipedia.
And I always give the original link .
I am one among the many contributors
for the wikipedia . I am aware of the
copyright issues and moral values .
This site is for discussing things .
Let us hope to see good discussions
here to contribute our views & thoughts ...

mvs, I have no problem with copying and pasting in those circumstances you outlined. In fact, sometimes it's necessary to back up what is said with a quote. It's the copying and pasting of other people's posts that I refer to when I say "cheater". :)

Yes I agree with you on this. Its fine to copy/paste substantiating material with your posts, but thats it. Let me know when the website is up and running, I will have a look at it!

i totally agree with you.ui had a couple of them cpooy my post verbatim and post it as a response to that same post.it is very irritating and sad that people cannot make tthe time to respond in thier own words and properly at that. am glad that mylot is catching up with such cheaters!
have a nice day!

also i do honestly wish that people will take more of an effort with their replies and not give gibberish .i had ne reply which went like this "i like it////////////////////////////"
like for 4 lines or so so that they can get the 4 lines definition and get a higher pay.i think that mylot should seriouslly take action against people like that!

An excellent initiative its. I believe that its site will have great sucessso.
I think that aprática to copy and glue very it is made a mistake and would have to be condemned by mylot with more vigor.
However, we cannot judge all thus. Therefore we have that to remember that coincidences exist

First do one line answers actually generate a huge amount of money for these people? ofcourse a thousand one word answers could well make a little bit on the side
which brings me on to if mylot is based also around word count - well if we are talking little one word or sentence answers makes little what about posting someone elses movie review? surely this would be a huge amount of text
i guess we all have to remember the genuine members of the mylot community also moderate this site in a way alerting to cheaters and the sort

Neat idea, and yes, I do agree with you that there sure is a lot of garbage to weed through here and try to find decent things to discuss. Good luck with the page!

Yeah i have posted on that forum as you said it is good....i really think it is good in a sense that somebody should be there who fights the injust, but there is a darker side that somone should check that the cheaters reported are ral cheaters and someone should not post innocent ones....

That's a good point. I hope that some people will volunteer as moderators so that this doesn't happen. I don't have time to look after it.

Can we discuss everybody on your site - like the good, the bad and the ugly or is it only the cheaters you want to hear about? Sounds like a good idea to have a chat forum so that we don't have to use the pm system and it will also serve to let everybody read our comments. I too will register on it.

You can discuss whoever you like on it. I've already recommended some of my favourite myLot users. I think there should be minimum moderation. I won't be moderating myself but I think that long standing myLot users should moderate it.

I hate MyLot cheaters. I hate to think that they are getting payed for posting crap that has no relevance to anything and is just annoying.
The site is a great idea. You should try getting the site administrators to link to your site.
Anyway, the majority of people here, In my opinion post good quality posts.

Ah yes, I think that mylot changed things so that new users can't copy and paste until they've posted 100 posts or something.

There have been a large number of discussions lately on the subject of cheaters and the copy abd paste scenario. This is perfectly understandable because these practices annoy us all and devalue the overall content of the site. Nevertheless, I have started to wonder whether the Mylot admin may soon become fed up with the subject appearing so prolifically, so the idea of an external area for such topics is an excellent idea.

Do you use this site because you're lonely or to share information? If you're lonely, then that's probably why you're so mad about someone who copies and pastes. If you're looking for information, then you don't care if they copy or paste because information is information. Just realize that people use this site for many reasons, not just yours.

I use this site because I like discussion - GENUINE discussion. Copying and pasting is against the myLot rules in case you hadn't noticed. And I'm not lonely either.

Yes Bitty, and the worst thing is that the people who start stupid discussions which have 1 word easy answers get the most reply's. I tried this once and the same happened with me..But when i try talking about nice interesting topics , I never get the response i expect. This is just not on , and its a real novel idea on your part to pay tribute to the good users in here. It's a great idea =) cheers!

This is because they think that by posting something quickly they'll gain a quick point. But the news going around is that it doesn't work.
You've probably noticed too that when someone starts a thread with a really long post they get really stupid answers because the "short answer" people don't bother to read the initial post properly.
