Have you ever tried writing to your favourite actor/singer/sportman/etc.?

Did you write to get an autograph or just to tell them how much you admire them? Did you get any response? Were you happy or disappointed? :) I've tried writing to my favourite actor once, but only got a pre-written reply that he sent to everyone that wrote to him. :P But I got a photo! *_* So I was happy! I tried writing to my favourite Japanese singer some months ago but I'm still hoping I'll get some kind of reply. :'( So, share your experiences here. ^^
