Is anyone else out there bipolar and if so, how do you cope with the extreme highs and lows. Do you ever find a medium.

Hi.... yeah, I would say it definately takes more than just the BiPolar person to be aware of it. My boyfriend is as well, and like the husband above said, you just learn to live with it...one day at a time. I want to learn more about it, but have learned a ton already....meds for instance....helped a lot in our situation.

I have been diagnosed bipolar. Took quite awhile (years) to get the correct diagnosis as the "mania" half didn't show itself till I was in my 40's. Until then I was treated for depression. After a full med change, I am happy to say that Depakote ER works great for me. I have a mooto! Takinng my meds is NON-NEGOTIABLE!!!! Meaning to keep my brain and life in balance, I must take my meds each night. I found early on that taking them at night is best for me. I also take Anafranil for , and Pexeva for depression. Between the 3 there are sleepy side effects,; I sleep those off through the night.. I have definately found the medium. Do you go to a Psychiatrist? They are the specialists when it comes to these kinds of issues. I am now my drs. "star" patient!!! What a compliment!!!! Let me know if you are on meds and how they are working for you!!

Hi, I have bipolar. It is hard to cope with but i think you sort of learn to live with it. You sometimes know what will follow next. I guess at times im hard to live with but i try not to be a pain. I always think ive found a medium then i get a low patch and that scrubs that thought out. I guess all someone with bipolar can do is live with it and try to live your life as best as you can.

Yes, I am bipolar, I should be medicated but I dont take em most of the time. I cant afford the meds. Its hard to deal with but i have my wife to help me. also as you go through life you learn to deal with it and hide it even. my dad is bipolar and has been all of his life. he got medicated but went off becouse he thought it was better that way, the way he was used to dealing with it. the same with me, I feel to sedated when im on those meds. Some people dont know this, and i didnt know for sure for a long time, but bipolar also has elements of paranoia, like you think the everyone is plotting against you and your friends are not really your friends, or just that the whole room is looking at you. you just have to remember that your not that important. people care but not that much. only your family does.

I have been living with bipolar for over 5 yrs now and how finally found the right mixtures of mood stablizers and anti-depressants to help with both the highs and lows. When I first started on the medications I was still suffering extreme highs and lows and would have to just get up and start walking around just to settle my panic attacks. You should see a professional at the first sign you think you maybe suffering from bipolar and start medication asap.
