A Freaky Event at Christmas.

December 30, 2006 2:43pm CST
My cousin Tiva received a call on her birthday. It wasn't one wishing her a happy birthday. She was told that her 21 year-old daughter, Elizibeth had died. She has tried to maintain life as usual as she has a younger child to care for. The step-father is a royal jerk. He says things that are inappropriate all the time. When the family was gathered together after Elizibeth's funeral he annouced loudly "hey, this is nice, we should do this more often." My cousin was livid. He is not liked by family members, but is tolerated because he is married to my Aunt, Tiva's mother. My cousin and her family drove 3 hours to be with her mother for Christmas dinner. The step-father was his usual sarcastic self. His mouth gets the best of him. During dinner, it was quiet. Then suddenly a loud crash from the living room brought them to their feet. The step-father's $1500 grandfather clock had tipped over and crashed to the floor. My cousin said that it was Elizibeth having the last laugh.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. It very well could have been her and I hope it was. My father has a mouth like the step father. Has no sence when he is talking about certain things. I had a almost fatal car accident in 2000 and I still swear to this day I saw him in the car with me. The cops could not understand how I got out of the car on my own, but I know he helped me. He passed away in 1999.Tell him not to offend the deceased again. You never know when there watching.

I'd like to believe that he has learned his lesson, but his type feels they can do no wrong.

I have a husband like the step-father. He's always right, we're always wrong. He has no sense of propriety either. It is very difficult living with him. I said we should go to counseling and he still doesn't understand how serious i am that I won't keep taking this.

grandfather clock - "signs" can be seen when folk pass on, often it is a butterfly or a bird at your window. found pennies are another.
Often have I heard of "other" things happening when folk pass on. It seems that in light of how the Step-Father being such a pain that something of his would be affected. Am hoping she did not suffer and is resting peacefully now.

Wow, my heart skipped a beat when I read the part of your post about the clock falling over. Oh my gosh! That's a sign for sure. She should have waited until he was standing closer to the clock. I know some people like that, though. They just are not able to be tactful for whatever reason. I'm sorry to hear about your friends daughter, and that this tragic event happened at such a special time of year.

It probably was. I take it you believe in the supernatural? Or at least your cousin does...? How did her daughter die, if you don't mind me asking?

Oh I love it!! It sounds like your cousin's step-father is a really cruel and insensitive person! I know this had to be a really difficult Christmas for your cousin.

Did Elizabeth not like the clock or was this a way to get back that the jerk step-father? I believe that spirits that have past can do a bit of damage when it is a strong feeling. LOL And from the sounds of it, it would be a strong feeling. :) I have an uncle like him. It is very sad and can really rake my patience. Karma can be a wonderful thing! Sorry for your cousin's loss.

I am sorry for your loss first off all. Second, it probably was Elizabeth. A clock like that isn't just going to tip over on it's own. I would have loved to see the look on his face. Serves him right for being such a jerk to everyone. At least Elizabeth got her chance to let him know how she felt.

Looseing a child would be unbearable the guy sounds like a real jerk. People like that will always have to learn the hard way, not happy to here about his grandfather clock but maybe he needed that.

Wow! That's pretty freaky. I don't believe in the supernatural, but hey, if he does maybe this will be a good thing, and stop him from acting like such a jerk.

how awful!.. im so sorry for the loss of your loved one.. i dont want to make excuses for this mans still unacceptable sarcasm and cruel words during horrible times.. but maybe he has no other way to deal with his sorrow? one thing i learned THIS year was to try to look at things from anothers perspective before judging.. and although his words are hurtful, does he understand the affect they are taking on his family?// obviously i dont know any of you personally.. and its hard to judge character, but did he love and care for Elizabeth? for his own sake i hope that he doesnt mean the things he says to have a hurtful affect and says them only out of stupidity or lack of understanding, for we are all judged sooner or later!

Maybe. Sounds like he deserves some waking up at any rate. So it was Elizabeth's sister that said this?

How very sad for your cousin that her daughter should die at such a young age. Life isn't fair sometimes. Karma was definately working for her step father though. Hope he really loved that clock and it is not able to be fixed!!!!

i would have to agree with your cousin saying that it was Elizabeth getting back at her "step grandfather". I totally believe in the after life and ghosts and spirits

Way to go Elizibeth :) "Royal Jerk" I would assume correctly to be the nicest name you could give this guy. Does anyone say anything to him when he speaks like this? It's a shame maybe that he wasn't sitting on the floor next to it. Maybe it would have knocked some sense in his head.
