Yes, you read that headline correctly. I admit that on occasion
Eleanor, my terri-poo, gets to dress up in various outfits. She is not very fond of most of her outfits. In fact she hates them.
Eleanor is a Diva, not a princess. I refrained from buying her a tiara today. Yes, it is over the top, but I have no children.

I have 3 dogs, and the older one gets a coat in the cold weather. But as far as the rest of them, my husband freaks out when I do it. They're supposed to be his good ole huntin' dogs, and they shouldn't be wearing reindeer antlers or sweaters. So, I would like to, but, I have to do it on the sly....LOL

We got a 4 pound minpin for Christmas and I am looking to buy him a coat or a sweater, as his fur is short and he doesn't want to go outside to relieve himself! lol We take him way out in the yard and put him down and he makes a beeline for the door! So, yes I guess I will be dressing him.

I have a min pin, too. He is 6 pounds. I have knit him two little sweaters for our walks outside when it is cold, and he has a heavier coat for when it's really really cold out. He likes wearing his coat and sweaters because he realized through training that he stays warmer with them on. We live in an apartment, so I have trained my dog to use a litter box with a Wee Wee pad in it! Little dogs gotta go when they gotta go, and we had one too many accidents on the stairs! Now, he goes whenever he needs to in his potty box! If you'd like more tips on min pin care, message me!

Personally no. My dog's a boy and sometimes I think dressing male dogs up all prissy might emasculate him. Not that he wouldn't look cute or that other male dogs wouldn't, it's just a choice for me. :D

Yes, I just recently moved to a colder climate and my little terrier is not used to the weather so I got her a small periwinkle colored sweater. She has adjusted quite well-she likes her sweater and I like keeping her comfy and snug.

I put sweaters, coats, pj's shirts on my Chihuahu Gizmo when it's cold. He likes wearing them beleive me if he doesn't like something I put on he gets out of it right away!!
I had a female English springer spaniel that loved to wear her sweatshirt dress so much. If it was in a laundry basket she would dig it out and bring it to you to put it on. Her name was Rasin Cain of Eaton, we called her Rasin. She was hysterical at times.
You can see Gizmo in costumes in my profile pictures.

No way. My dog would not like that. My husband wouldn't approve of me dressing her in clothing either.

One of the dogs I grew up with was a toy poodle, named Frosty. He grudgingly let me dress him up in some big dolls clothes periodically, but he didn't like it. Of course it hurt his ego, as I was dressing a BOY dog in GIRLS clothes...you could almost hear him say "Yuck!"..lol

No, but that's because I don't own a dog. :)
If I did own one, depending on the breed and size of it, I'd consider dressing it in a sweater if it needed it for the warmth. However, I don't think I'd dress it up just to do it. I didn't like playing with dolls when I was a kid, and I don't want children, so the urge to dress something isn't one that I have.
I do have two cats. I've never dressed them in anything because A. I haven't wanted to, and B. I don't want to be turned into a human pin cushion. :P

I have several outfits for my Izzy. She loves them. When I take them off, She tries to put them back on!lol I find it hars to get things in her size because she is a weenie dog and most things do not fit her long body shape. I have several size 9-12 month old baby clothes that fit her better than the stuff made for dogs. I plan to make her some, too. That way they will fit.

LOL. I have a terri-poo also and her name is Diva. I dress her up all the time. She hates it. Whenever I put on her cloths she trys to pull them off. When I put bows in her hair, she drags her head on the ground until they fall off. It's the funniest thing because she is so tall and skinny.

If I had a dog I would not dress him since clothes is one of the things that seperates us humans from the animals.

We have a golden retriever, so he is really too big to dress. But sometimes we put a bandana on him. For Halloween we got him a cute bandana with a pumpkin on it. My daughter has also put hats on him, but he doesn't like wearing them and takes them off right away.

I wish that I could. But since I have doberman's, they are HUGE and NO ONE makes clothes big enough for them. Trust me I look and they are for the cute little babies. Oh well. My boys are macho like their daddy. And daddy wouldn't be too happy if he came home and mommy (me) dressed them up LOL!!!!!!

Hi Melizzy!
Your dog doesn't like being dressed up because she is a dog! I think that sweaters, coats and boots do have their place in cold and wet weather and with older dogs or short haired ones but other than that they prefer to be "au natural". I tell people that when you treat dogs like people they treat you like dogs.
Respect your dog for being who she is- a dog! She can learn our language but we need to learn theirs too and she can learn great intellectual things if we teach fairly and by natural behaviours.

When my dog was a puppy I used to put a little shirt on him. He was so cute. It was a football shirt. I am not sure if he liked it but I thought it was cute. He wasnt trying to take it off or anything so I dont think it really bothered him.

Yes I as well dress up my dog in various outfits. This winter I bought her three hoodies so that I'd have a variety of different ones to put on her for when it becomes cold outside. And so that she isn't wearing the same one all the time as well.
I have one blue fleece hoodie that says "casual canine" & then I have the same fleece hoodie but in a different color (which is pink) so that there are different colors.. That I can alternate.
My dog is a huge fan of wearing these hoodies.. Such a big fan that when I try to take them off of her she tends to throw kind of a fit. I think she really enjoys wearing these hoodies because they keep her warm.
