Well, it bothers me because they are sometimes rude and I have no way of knowing if it is REALLY going for a good cause.

It doesn't bother me one bit to have the bell ringer out by a store at Christmas Time....Cause at one time when I was homeless the people who ring those bells helped me and my three chrildren.......I was helped to get a job, and on my feet they gave me a place to stay and fed the four of us till I got myself back together.......Those bell ringer to me is just as much a part of Christmas as a Christmas Tree....So before you get upset with them take some time to find out what they do for people all year long.......I hope you never need their help but if you do they don't ask your religon or race.......They will give you a hand up....

No, it doesn't bother me. I walk right past them. I respect that they are volunteers collecting for what they feel is a good cause, but I have specific charities that I donate to on a regular basis.

No, it doesnt bother me. Its my choice whether to give them or not. Once I actually gave the guy ringing the bell $10 to go buy himself some dinner. Its really hard to be standing out there on a cold night doing what he is doing and also getting nasty looks from people who dont like the line of work he has chosen.
Thanks for the topic!
