i dont understand why there are so mamy discussions out here for the ex-iraqi-president... what is so great about him that people are just sympathizing with his execution? does anyone out here actually know what all he has done... or are u just anti-american?
it makes no sense to me why so many people are against his execution. As the leader of Iraq and head of the Baath Party, he promoted secular pan-Arabism, economic modernization, and Arab socialism at the same time that he practiced one-party rule, censorship, and violent repressions, especially against Iraq's Shia, Kurdish and Marsh Arab populations. As president, Saddam ran an authoritarian government and maintained power and stability in the country. During his rule the Iran-Iraq War (1980–1988) and the Gulf War (1991) took place.
Saddam established a family dictatorship with his two sons: Oddai and Kussai Hussein. Saddam assigned substantial executive powers to his two sons, to affirm his political power and regime continuation.
According to Forbes Magazine of July 1999, Saddam Hussein’s personal wealth estimated at nine billion dollars, generated mainly from Iraq's oil.
people tell me that he was so much patriotic and did a lot for his contry... is tht why he looted them also?and he also killed his sons-in-law who tried to flee his regime.... he is also suspected to have killed a lot of him political opponents!!!and u still argue tht he ought not to die!!!!!!!

According to the Washington Post, the CIA began in 1984 secretly to give Iraq intelligence that Iraq used to "calibrate" its mustard gas attacks on Iranian troops. In August, the CIA establishes a direct Washington-Baghdad intelligence link, and for 18 months, starting in early 1985, the CIA provided Iraq with "data from sensitive U.S. satellite reconnaissance photography...to assist Iraqi bombing raids." The Post’s source said that this data was essential to Iraq’s war effort
Iraq's chemical weapons program was mainly assisted by German companies such as Karl Kobe, which built a chemical weapons facility disguised as a pesticide plant. Iraq’s foreign contractors, including Karl Kolb with Massar for reinforcement, built five large research laboratories, an administrative building, eight large underground bunkers for the storage of chemical munitions, and the first production buildings. 150 tons of mustard were produced in 1983. About 60 tons of Tabun were produced in 1984. Pilot-scale production of Sarin began in 1984. Germany also supplied reactors, heat exchangers, condensors and vessels. France, Austria, Canada, and Spain provided similar equipment

The question is not that the Saddam was a good or bad.
The question is that the decision of his execution was right. He was punished by Courtn he was accused to killed 148 peoples. It is right he should be punished.
But at the time of invasion by American and UK Forces in Iraq, they fallen explosive bombs on Baghdad (Iraqi Capital), in the result more than 5 lac people have been killed. Who is the responsible for this murder.
Who will be punished for the filling of 5 lac people.
Will this Civilized world answer tell ne please.????????????

well war always has such effects... if that war didnt take place saddam would never have been caught and he would have continued his atrocities!!
someone had to do something to capture him... he could have surrendered!! he let his people die for him right? cnt u see it in that light? if he was a great leader he would not let his people to die for him!! as simple as that... so in a way he is responsible for their deaths too

And during that time america was supporting iraq if u look at regean's comments u would understand what iam talking
President Ronald Reagan decided that the United States "could not afford to allow Iraq to lose the war to Iran", and that the United States "would do whatever was necessary and legal to prevent Iraq from losing the war with Iran."
Ted Koppel of ABC Nightline reported the following, however, on June 9, 1992: "It is becoming increasingly clear that George Bush Sr., operating largely behind the scenes throughout the 1980s, initiated and supported much of the financing, intelligence, and military help that built Saddam's Iraq into [an aggressive power]" and “Reagan/Bush administrations permitted — and frequently encouraged — the flow of money, agricultural credits, dual-use technology, chemicals, and weapons to Iraq.” The Reagan Administration secretly began to allow Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Egypt to transfer to Iraq American howitzers, helicopters, bombs and other weapons. These shipments were done without the approval of the U.S. Congress and were in clear violation of the Arms Export Control Act as well as international law
Reagan personally asked Italy’s Prime Minister Guilio Andreotti to channel arms to Iraq.
According to Iraq's report to the UN, the know-how and material for developing chemical weapons were obtained from firms in such countries as: the United States, West Germany, the United Kingdom, France and the People's Republic of China
