I like some rock music but metal is not my kind of stuff that I like to listen. Heavy metal groups such as Black Sabbath often made use of imagery and symbolism, connected with Satanism.
Satanic heavy metal groups often make use of intentional backward masking which is like when a verbal message is recorded and reversed in direction, you ll hear a totally different message from the original. The most famous example is a passage from "Stairway to Heaven." If you play forward you will hear these lyrics "OH mysweet satan".
For futher reference I suggest you to visit this site and make judgement yourself http://jeffmilner.com/backmasking.htm

as for me ,no music is devilish. it depends on the person's prefrence. usually, people who finds music offensive to their taste ,they consider it as devil music.usually , music that is loud and usually listened to by the young people.here is a trivia: do you know during the fortys , new orleans music or what we know as jazz, was branded as the devil's music? young people likes rock music, and everyday there are a lot of young people becoming teens and they need to express their energies in the form of associating themselves to rock. rock is a form of a rebel music, same as mainstream jazz music.
guys, just some infos as to how people respond to different kinds of music. i like rock ,jazz, classical, pop music .and i am old!

Somehow i'm not surprised that you are for censorship. Personally i think that fundies need to keep their dogma to themselves and let others be.

I ahd a rock and heavy metal phase in my young life and I even like some of the newer stuff. I think that Marilyn Manson and people like that need to get a real job but there is obviously a market for what they are selling or we wouldn't even know their names. People have to believe in something. If that something is the devil I feel sorry for them but that also has a flip side to that coin. If y ou believe in the devil eventually that will bring you back to believing in a God too right?

Well, I could understand if you were a Bible believer and said that certain types of music were the Devils music, as some of the Lyrics, etc. are not the best, and make you think and want to do things that are not good for you.
But when it is someone that most Christians would not approve of anyways saying things like that, it is probably just to try and start trouble. I know just because it may be different than what she listened too?

yes rock msic is also my favorite genre.but i rather prefer something which has got some meaning to it.i dont listen to stuffs like six feet under, type o negative etc.they just seem to be meaningless to me.i really call them devils music as your mother told.they are more of a noise making bands who have their distortion paddle switch on their guitar and keeps on changing chords as well screaming without making them understandable to us.its not being old fashioned.listen to quality things like deff lepard, megadeth, iron maiden,a perfect circle, children of bodom(a bit on the harder side though)yngwie malmsteen, bon jovi...they are melodious as well as hard.music should provide us with hearing satisfaction and some rock bands really seem to be noise-machine to me.thanks.

I think music is music, God made it all and nothing God made is bad.. NOW, the lyrics to some songs is what can make or break it. There is even christian metal/rock. I dont listen to metal or rock personally now but I have in the past(rock) and just like Rap, hip hop, R & B and even gospel I like some songs and I dont like others. But anyways, regardless all boils down to lyrics of the songs.. and music, if ur are strong minded person should make u followers of anything.. its all what's in ur heart.

Rock music is my favorite genre. I love everything about rock music. The scene, the lyrics, the music, the people. Although I'm sure when I say rock music, people think heavy metal, screeching guitars and banging drums, but that's not the case at all.
The music I listen to has emotion, and heart. Some of the music is screamy, but not like hardcore music. The music I listen to is considered pop-punk/screamo/emo/indie.

My criteria for the devil's music is more the lyrics than the music and I use the term music generously in some cases, noise may be more accurate. Any lyrics that are negative to one's self or to society, teaching rebellion and despair, or has swearing is the devil's music.

I think some of the heavier meatal music is questionable. I don't think it is satanic or anything, some of the lyrics are definately dark and dreary and even angry. But they are saying the same thing as any other country song or rap song. They just expess thier emotions in a diferent way and that is what is so beautiful about music.

i listen to heavy metal,a nd i also listen to christian music. Some of the heavy rock tends to cuss alot which i do not like but i do like the music in general. I do not believe that it is the devils music though.

It's just some lame opinion on what is different. I dated the daughter of a fundie baptist preacher, and he believed the same thing. He said it fell under "hear no evil" in the Bible, but clearly he was just trying to use the Bible to back up his own opinions. Creepy.

people make assumptions about things that they are not comfortable with. Perhaps they think it is the devil's music because it has a reputations of sounding "dark" and often talks about people dying or getting torchured, sacrificed, etc.
I think people hear one or two songs and think that all metal is BAD.
People just need to get educated on things that they are not used to before making judgments.

I think calling it the devil's music is just silly, but i'm an avid metal fan. ;P The heavier the better.

i like all music. i like most rock songs. mostly mainstream. my mother was the..."thats not music, thats noise" type of person. pretty much in the same old school mindframe. my grandmother might think its devils music. but she doesn't really know our music choices. metal is just different styles and moods. they give you different feelings.

The devils music? yeah right, it's just music, it's no such thing as devils music in my opinion, I listen to all types of music, I've heard some rock and some metal music with a soft side to it, if you listen to the lyrics carefully.
