What countries have you visited?

Ireland

I love hearing about people's travels, especially as I've done so little of it myself. So, what countries have you been to? And what did you like, or which was the best? I've been to: UK (England, Scotland, Wales) - Scotland was my favourite. Loved Edinburgh. Northern Ireland - My favourite part was the Giant's Causeway in Antrim France - I've been to Picardy, Brittany, Vendee regions. I've also been to Paris and to Euro Disney. My favourite place was Mont St. Michel in the North of France. Belgium - I went to Bruge which was beautiful. U.S. - New York. Fabulous city. Absolutely amazing. It's a pity I was only there for 3 days. Canada - Toronto. Loved it. Favourite thing was having dinner in the CN tower. It was beautiful. Niagara Falls - It was everything I'd imagined and more. Spectacular. Croatia,Dubrovnik - Beautiful city. It's a long time since I was there but I can remember the cobblestoned roads and the city walls. And the harbour where we sat and had coffee. Anyone else care to share where they've been?

I hope you get to do lots of travelling. I think it's great. I'd love to visit India some day. I wanted to go there on my honeymoon but we got married in July and the temperatures there would have been much too hot for us as we're not used to that type of heat.

I lived in Bremahaven (sp?) Germany for at least 4yrs when I was young. I can only say that the only thing I liked about it was the snow! Yes to answer your question, I was an army brat!:)

I'm guessing that you found it there? It was supposed to be some kind of port or something like it. We lived on an army base but not a neighborhood away there were Germans living there. They didn't seem to like us inhabiting there space, go figure. It was back in the late 70's. Just don't ask me to say anything in German though, I think I can still count to 10. It's funny cause I think I can sing it better than I speak it. lol

I had to look it up on Wikipedia as I wasn't sure where it was. Did you have to speak German while you were there? I gather there were a lot of U.S. citizens there?

Well you say that you have done very little but you seem to have travelled quite a bit as for myself I have been to the island where my husband is from Tonga, it is a very small island, but I loved the fresh sea air that covers the island. I have also travelled to Papua New Guinea, and been to some places where I was the first white woman there I was a bit afraid of some of the natives there but it all worked out well and they did not harm me at all this was in a place in the Eastern Highlands there. I have also been to Auckland, New Zealand where I went to a Tongan wedding that was the main reason why I went there I did not see much of New Zealand although if I had of had time I would of.

I've done very little travelling compared to a lot of my friends. Most have them went to Australia for a year, travelled around Australia, and then went on to travel around the world. I'd love to visit New Zealand. My brother was there a while ago and had great stories to tell about it.

I'm from Philadelphia, and have never yet left the United States. =( There are many places I'd love to go, but right now if I could pick one it would be England, because my boyfriend grew up there and I'd love to go and see all the places he spent his time.

I am from China, so I traveled thru many cities in China, such as Beijing, HongKong and ShangHai. I study in U.S, so NYC, Boston, Washington, California, and Texas. So far NYC is the place I love the most. Last summer I went to Japan with school trip for 11 days. We went to Tokyo, Kobe, and Nagoya. They are all very beautiful cities. I love shopping in Japan the most, but things are just so expensive. I would like to visit Korea, England, Frence, Germany, and India.

I've been to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, UK, Belgium and Germany. What struck me most in visiting Europe is their sense of history as portrayed in architectural designs of buildings and the number of museums I've visited. Not to mention the culture of course!

I haven't been to any, but I'd love to go to Germany. I took German for 3 years in high school, so we were always reading about it, and it seemed like such a neat place to visit. Our German class had taken a trip to Germany between my 10th and 11th grade years, I think, but I didn't have the money to go. It was pretty costly.

It would be easier for you to check my profile to see where I have lived and travelled than for me to take up space here. I will just give you the places without comments. My first visit outside the US was to New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia. Years later I lived in Mexico City and Monterrey, Mexico, and Barcelona, Spain (visiting throughout both countries) before returning to Washington, D.C. The went TDY to the Dominican Republic during the l965 Revolution, followed by a TDY in La Paz, Bolivia. From there I went PCS to Quito, Ecuador followed by Bogota, Colombia. While in Latin America I also visited Lima, Peru, Caracas, Venezuela and Panama City and Balboa in Panama. From Colombia I was assigned to Saigon, South Vietnam. I was there 4 1/2 years (leaving there just two weeks before it fell). While in Saigon I had the chance to travel to Khatmandu, Nepal, Bangkok, Thailand, Pnohm Penn, Cambodia, Kuala Lampur, Malaysia (and other cities), Jakarta and Bali, Indonesia, Hong Kong. After retiring I took a job out of Paris as representative to Spain and Portugal. I set up housekeeping in Cascais (about 35kms east of Lisbon) but the job didn't pan out so I returned to the US. After two months of boredom in US I returned to Portugal where I have been ever since (going on 28 years). I have traveled throughout southern France and Paris, Bonn, Germany and outlying towns and cities. In addition to all this I have been to 46 of the 50 states. And have been in more airports in I don't know how many more countries. Other than that my life has been normal.

Gifana that is some amount of travelling you've done. I'm sure you must have great stories to tell. I envy you having been in Venezuela and Caracas as I used to have a friend there. He sent me photos of the beaches that were stunning. You're very lucky to have gotten to do so much travelling. :)

I haven't done much travelling at all, unfortunately. However, I'm only 19, and I have my whole life to travel anywhere in the world. And believe me, there's a LOT of destinations on my list! AUSTRALIA: I live in Melbourne, and I've been visiting to Sydney, Provincial New South Wales, Adelaide, Port Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, The Sunshine Coast, the Gold Coast, Tropical North Queensland, and Townsville. However, I believe Melbourne is one of the best places in Australia. Maybe just because I'm biased! U.S.A- I haven't seen a whole lot, but I've been to the west coast, which involved seeing San Francisco (which was absolutely gorgeous, and so welcoming!), San Diego (and of course, the San Diego Zoo. Wow! Puts the Melbourne Zoo to shame!) Also Las Angeles and Hollywood. It was a great trip, but next time I'd love nothing more than to see New York. INDONESIA- I've been to Bali and Thailand. However, these were both when I was quite little, so I don't remember a whole lot of them. ARCHIPELAGO ISLANDS - Just east of the Australian East Coast. New Caledonia was the most built-up island I went to. Most of the others were very small and basic. Unfortunately I can't remember all of the names. My number one next destination is Japan, and I'm saving as we speak. Good luck with your future travels!

Shooo! That's not a little travel. That's quite vast and interesting. I definitely have'nt travelled much and would love to travel more. Maybe this new year will be a start. I have been to Mauritius (honeymoon), UK (5 days for work - need to see more of it), Disneyworld (holiday - Miami for a few days but didnt even make it to the beach). Have done some local travel here in South Africa. My ultimate is to travel Europe, Morocco, Egypt, back to Miami, New York and .......Timbuktoo!

Well, I think the fact that I am 36 now, this is probably not a lot of travel for my age. And I'm so jealous when my friends start listing off all the places they've been to. They don't brag about it or anything. It just comes up in conversation now and again "Oh I was there", " Oh really, is it like.....", "Have you ever been.....". So I can't wait to travel more. I'd love to visit Egypt too. There are some great deals out there at the moment.

I've been to Thailand. It's a great country too. The people are so welcome, eventhough not much from them can speak english. There are many religious-theme tourism points. I went to Thailand in mid 2004, in search for my grandpa's graveyard. I went to Kanchanabhuri. if you know about Bridge of the River Kwae, that's the city. The city itsef not to big, many handycraft. Thailand is a mix between eastern culture and modern western lifestyle.
