Where is Bush when it comes to things of importance?

I know some people may disagree with me on this topic, and thought, but this is why I decided to post it, and if you do disagree with me, you have every right too. And No, I am not being mean and bashing Bush again, I am just saying I find some things odd and wonder if I am the only one. What I am refering too, is the Recent death of Gerald Ford. They had his tribute to him and such yesterday, and Bush was no where to be found. He was at home in Texas instead of being in Washington DC to pay his respects and tributes. I feel as President this is not right, and wonder if people in the White House will remember this when he passes on and choose not to pay their respects to him as well? I am just saying he is President and should be there for support of past President's families or people besides me will start talking and wonder what is wrong with him. Also with Hussein's death he has not said anything either. Just to me does not seem right. I feel this is not making Brownie points for me, and many others, and people wonder why there are those of us who will be Glad when he is no longer in office. What do others think? Would Love to hear some discussion back on this one.

Will we ever really now? I feel his disrespect like this, will only hurt his and his father's chances of many people ever wanting to Trust them and pay them respect of any kind if anything ever happens to them.

This is a really good question. Regardless of what anyone thinks of President Bush himself, it seems to me that paying respects at Gerald Ford's service would be something that a current president would want to do, and also that it would be an expectation of him, kind of a "command performance". The President himself should be there, NOT some designated representative. It's funny that there really hasn't been mention of this on the news. I'm going to scout around some other news forums and see if I can find anything out.

Interesting thoughts indeed. I just sometimes think Bush often only thinks of himself, and never things about what impression he could be leaving for the rest of the world, and United States.

I noticed George Ws absence from most of the Ford events, too. VP Cheney was always prominently in the front, but our fearless leader was nowhere to be seen. I also saw nothing of the first lady while I was watching. All of the past presidents and first ladies were there, but it seems our current leadership was missing the boat there just like he is in all other aspects of United States life and interest. I'm sure that if it were a leader in one of his more-favored countries, say Iraq, he would have been there with bells on. This guy just has all his priorities in the wrong place.

I do not think that we have any good leaders in the United States right now. Iraq is a mess, China is getting a lot of our money and using it to biuld a mass amount of weapons of mass destruction, and our car business seems to be taken over by the Japanese. Why can't our country make a really good very fuel efficient car that people want to buy?

Well, I totally agree with you Suzy it is time for a change, and I am hoping Hillary has a chance when they start pushing the Election more this next yr. I feel she could be a Good step in helping the US get back on it's feet like they used to be.
