if amplifier rms exceeds the sub rms what will happen

if i have an amp that is 500-1000 watts rms and 2000 watts total with 2 channels but my subwoofers are only 380 watts rms will this damage the amp or subs.

Absolutely you will damaged your subwoofer because your amplifier has the higher wattage than your speaker.The result is the amplifier will burn the coil of your sub.Now lets reverse the situation,if the subfoower has the higher wattage than the amplifier ,it has the right combination with regards to the ohms satability of the amplifier.
