Do you really think people progress by taking the left hand path and the people who follow the right hand path always stagnate and left behind?

What do you mean by the left hand path? And since when do people who follow a 'right hand path' stagnate and get left behind? These are generalisations that have nothing to do with evil thriving in the world. Firstly there's nothing wrong with the 'left' - this is an age-old superstition that needs to be forgotten in the 21st century.
Secondly evil thrives in the world for several reasons: people think they can gain by doing evil, and that there will be no consequences. Evil is a result of sin in human beings, and many people would prefer to sin than do good. Evil is also a supernatural force which most people on earth don't consider has any effect on the lives of human beings.
