Way back in 1980, I was a student at Tarpon Springs High School. I went to see a band called "Avatar" at the school. It was just two brothers on Guitar and Bass/Keyboard, and a drummer. They played covers from Rush, Van Halen, Queen, and other bands popular at the time.
Criss Oliva was a student at our school... we didn't know each other, but we had a few common friends. Later I saw him and his brother Jon again in Fayetteville, NC in a band called "Savatage".
I think Criss was the only person from either of the two high schools I went to that ever became a celebrity.
How about you, did you know anyone "when"?

Well, I don't but my dad played high school baseball against Cal Ripken Jr. I don't think I've gone to school with anyone who's become a celebrity, not yet anyway.

Cal Ripken Jr.? Yeah, he definitely qualifies. That's cool that he actually played baseball against him. Kind of like being able to say you were in little league with Robin Yout or something. ;~D

I don't really know anyone from my school who became celebrety but one student fren of mine when on to become vice-president of some organization claiming to have 20,000 members worldwide and later after finishing the termn went on to become the chairman of some community. I don't think he is a celebrity because his name is not known internationally. Even locally no one cares. Anyway. I think I myself am a celebrety. So he should tell you that he went to school with me.
