I think Rogue is the strongest of the X-men. I'm generally refering to X-Men comicverse.
She can pretty much kill anyway. Prolonged touch will absorb the powers of any other mutant, as evidenced by her having taken Carol Danvers powers, which gained her invincibility, flight and plasma bursts among other things.
Either way, she's kick-a*s!!

Yea Girl! I agree she is amazing! Feel bad for her and her love interest however, she almost got the treatment in the third movie!

She did actually take the cure in the last movie. I didn't care for that little bit of it. Actually, I didn't love the 3rd movie at all. I was very disappointed with the direction the plot line took and how they handled the Dark Pheonix story. It's nothing at all like what it was in the comics or the cartoons. i feel like if you're going to use a plot line that we all know, stick to it instead of making it fit your easier circumstances.

If you already watched X-men 3 there are lines there that tell us that mutants are rank according to their superpowers. Jean Grey or Phoenix belongs to class five while Magneto and Professor X belongs to class 4. I don't really know the rank of the ohters though.

Strongest as in physically lifting things? I think you'd have to go with either Rogue, depending on who she absorbs, or Colossus. Both are really strong.
But then again, are we including the brotherhood characters (the bad guys)? Cuz if so, Magneto is supposed to have almost infinite strength regarding metal, but Juggernaut is literally unstoppable. So either are extremely strong in their own contexts.
The strongest character though is probably Gladiator, he's pretty much Superman on steriods. He's unstoppable. He's from the Shi'ar the aliens.

Magneto and Rogue are the two strongest. Rogue because she can use everyones powers by touching them. Magneto is awesome too... if Rogue powers and Magento powers were combined it would make thee most powerful x-men ever!

I have my own personal favorites among the characters of X-men - Rogue and Jean Grey. I have followed Rogue's adventures on The Uncanny X-Men cartoon series and judging on it, I think that she can be the strongest. She can absorb ALL the powers and memories of any mutant she comes in contact with like what she did to Ms. Danvers. The only flaw is leaving them powerless or worst lifeless once she stays in contact with them for a long time and draining all of their powers. Jean Grey on the other hand has evolved into a Class Five mutant which, I think, considers it as the higher order of mutants in terms of evolution of powers. Like what happened in X-Men 3, Magneto told her that she can do incredible things with her mind, anything she wants to imagine. She can mess up with your head and at the same time use stronger telekinetic power.
