Do anyone knows how and why people suddenly get kidney failure? What can I do to be protected from this? When a kidney fails does it means that a person now needs a kidney transplant?

Kidney failure can be caused by diabetes or high blood pressure. Get yourself checked by a doctor to determine if you have these conditions. If so, then you can control the disease with medication to help prevent kidney failure. Make it a habit to drink plenty of water daily. My mother got a kidney transplant about 5 years ago and is doing well. She's had high blood pressure since she was 19 years old and has taken medication over the years to control it. We didn't find out she was a diabetic until she was diagnoised with kidney failure and it was determined that the diabetes was the cause of her kidney failure. My Mom is now 75 years old. Hope this helps. Take care of yourself.
