I used to have an IUD for years eventually having it removed; hadn't even realized that I'd had it in for over 10 years. The doctor found it in an exam and asked me if I still wanted to keep it. Just shows you how much I keep track of my health...lol I guess with something like that, at least for me, it's like, 'set it and forget it'... I had him remove it because I was afraid that having it in for so long that it may cause problems. Don't know if that was the case but I did have a bit of a scare afterward; they found some kind of precancerous growth on my cervix later and I had what they call a 'cone' done. They burn it off. Let me tell you, when you smell your own skin burning, uugh. But I haven't had any problems since then. I now use, Encare. Have been for several years; it's an spermicide plug and it works great. You do have to clean out afterward with a douce (can't remember how to spell that word).

I understand. It's a bit of a hassle but well worth it for me. I don't think I should try another IUD as I'm fearful of getting something again. But of course, I did have it in for a very long time.

I am personally not against birth control, although I firmly believe the best way to prevent having children is 100% abstinence. People can have alot of fun with eachother without going all the way... I never had an IUD but I have had friends who have had to go the hospitals in an emergency because theirs started to come out wrong, or went it wrong one of the two... - DNatureofDTrain

thank you very much for the information provided!.. i decided to get a 5 yr IUD after having my second child.. I havent had any problems personally, but i found out that my aunt did when she got hers (after i got mine) but she got one more than 15 years ago.. and ive been told that they have changed ALOT in the last decade..and although we want our childrens' birth's farther apart.. with my spouse and I, abstinence is out of the question! lol

after i gave birth my ob advise me to use pill.but i always forgot to take a pill.so my ob then changed it into injectable birth control.the result, i am moody and at the same time i am not comfortable having a spotting for a month that leads into skin allergy.it annoys me alot! so, i decided to stop using scientific birth control instead we used natural birth control.for that nothing to worry about my health.we're now more responsible because we are not ready to add one.we are still enjoying our first baby
