is the internet a threat to creative writing?

Well, the internet is indeed one of the best things that has happened to the human race.. then, out of the many flaws that come as a package, i really feel that many of the works that are written now have the same content modified or in cut-copy-paste form of something on the net. People tend to download stuff from the net and use it in their work. An instance: This was during my first semester of MBA, where we usually have to do umpteen number of assignments. I observed that most of us just downloaded material from the net, and submitted the assignments. This could happen in any profession and is not good. It disables the writing skills of a person, especially students who do their assignments online. I could be wrong, or is my observation right?
