Ohh yess .. I had a friend once who really embarrassed me every time we were out together ... he had quite a loud voice and whenever we went shopping together (bless him he used to help me do my shopping before I got so disabled I couldn't get to the shops easily) he would constantly call out to ask me which brand of food I wanted .. even if he was several aisles away in the supermarket he would just call out my name and ask if I needed any coffee or whatever ...
I was always sooooooooooo embarrassed ... "hush" I used to say when he got back to me ... "people will hear you" ... but of course why shouldn't he call out .. it's a lot simpler than walking all the way back to me and asking isn't it ... so I suppose it was me not being able to accept that he felt quite comfortable talking to me even though I wasn't right in front of him ..
He had very few inhibitions .. and I had many ... so it's really weird to think we were so different yet remained good friends for about 15 years or so until he moved away ...
And the really odd thing is that I feel far less inhibited when i am out and about now thena I ever did all those years we were friends ... if we met up again now we'd probably be having a conversation from opposite sides of the shop hahahah !!!

Of course, it's something normal in life. Sometimes people are so selfish that they can't see their stupidity. They often regret for their reactions but sometimes it's very late.

I've been embarrassed by my friends a few times but then I've embarrassed them plenty too. The main thing that makes me cringe is OH getting aggressive when people are arrogant in shops

Oh God, yes! I have a friend, who I love dearly, but let me tell you... I can't take her out in public! She is loud mouthed and opinionated and says things that make me want to melt into a puddle on the floor, but still... I wouldn't change her if I could. She's the best friend I've ever had in the life.
