Well, there are two primary reasons why Arsenal dont have big money like Chelsea and Man Utd.
They are:
1] The ownership of both Man Utd and Chelsea have recently been taken over by rich businessmen. I dont recollect the exact name of Man Utd's new owner (I think it is Glazer or something like that). And Chelsea was taken over some three years ago be the Russian billionaire Roman Abromovich (something like that). In fact Roman A (I cant spell that again) was the main deciding factor when A.Shevchenko moved to Chelsea from AC Milan!!
2] Arsenal did not have any rich billionaire to pump in the money and they also had to spend a lot for the new Emirates stadium they built (I think the new stadium cost us something like 400 million Pounds or so, if I have the right information). Also from last year's Arsenal squad, some of the players have being lost without any money being gained. The legend Bergkamp retired at the end of the season. Pires moved on to Spain for hardly anything. Sol Campbell moved on for FREE. Reyes is out on loan, and the player we got in exchange, J.Baptista, was injured earlier in the season, and is now finding it hard to score in the EPL. Even Rosicky, the player we "BOUGHT" this season, hasn't scored in the league!! Lauren is injured right from the start of the season and our talisman, Thierry Henry, has also been down with injury for more than a month now, and we have slipped down to fifth, rather than being up there and fighting for the title!!
Now, Henry is set to make his return (hopefully he will be on the bench for the Charlton game) in the first week of January, and we can only hope that our position in the league improves after his return!!

the major reason behind this is that they dont know how to sell themselves.
For instance-Man u had Beckham.they made full use of his image and cashed in a lot of bucks.for this same reason he was bought by madrid.
we have one of the best strikers in the world in the form of henry.
we should make some kind of money making use of his image n name.
