Goodbye Rose

I'm devastated Billi Piper chose to leave the show. Her character's relationship with both incarnations of the Doctor is what made the show for me. When Chris Eccelston left I didn't think the show would survive, now a year later, I think David Tennant does a better job portraying the eccentric time lord. But I don't see how any other character can take Rose's place. With the Chris/David flip flop and actor left but the character remained basically the same. Now the character is leaving, the character whom the Doctor loved. Will he forget about her in under three episodes and fall in love with the next companion? I hope not.

I half expected the girl in the wedding dress that appeared on the TARDIS after Rose had left to become a part of the series, but that did not happen. Now I wonder if Captain Jack Harkness will will be written back into the series. He made a good addition to the program while he was in it, and in the last episode of Torchwood the TARDIS was heard after he had disappeared. This was obviously a prelude to his return.

It would be a great pity if you were deprived of watching Torchwood. it is an excellent spin off from Doctor Who and well worth watching. As expected the first episode was a little slow, but the series was excellent.

I read your post and just KNEW you had to be in England. We haven't seen the runaway bride episode yet and I don't think they even show Torchwood here. Hopefully soon though. I wasn't that wild about Captain Jack, I think the Doctor is a one doctor one woman kind of show.

I have to disagree with you on this, sorry! But I am a great fan of the old doctors, you know John Pertwee and Tom Baker, when they revived it, I first thought, yes, great I'll be watching that. But I've been very disappointed, I did not like Christopher Eccleston or David Tennant and as for Rose, certainly not the best assistant, I preferred Sarah Jane. The doctor will forget Rose, the amount of assistants he's had, she'll be just another notch on the tardis!

To each his own (doctor that is) I only saw the series with Tom Baker and really don't remember much about it. So this incarnation is the only one I can judge by, and they've managed to lose the original cast. But I will keep watching. Thanks for your comments

I think the doctor won't be falling in love again any time soon. I think it was a fluke, and a way to get ratings for the show. I too really like the Rose character, but Dr. Who is about change. There have been many many companions before, so I'm ready to see some more. How about an alien companion?

I loved Rose with both Drs. She was a wonderful actress and so cute. I was sad to see that she was leaving too. I was so happy though to realize that she wasn't being killed, just transported to another parallel universe. I was so pleased to see that she got to be with both of her parents, even if the dad was "different". I don't think the Dr will fall in love too quickly with his new +1. The way he talked about Rose with the bride in the Christmas special was so tender and loving. I don't think he will get over her too soon.

I loved the character of Rose and was very sad to see her go. I really wasn't expecting that one at all. I never watched the original series and only just started with last season with the new one. I think David Tennant does a better job as well. Chris Eccelston wasn't bad but he wasn't able to pull of the eccentricity that Tennant is able to. I find him delightful to watch. I'm not sure who the new companion will be but she has some big shoes to fill. I feel a bit sorry for her because you know everyone will be comparing her to Rose. I doubt they would be foolish enough to have him fall in love that quickly. True he has fallen in love in the past and had to say goodbye so he might be able to get over it quicker then some but I don't think it will happen that fast.

I haven't seen the last two doctors but am a big fan of the old Doctors, even Colin Baker. I shudder to think of the doctor falling in love with a companion, but I suppose it could work. Looking forward to seeing the new episodes for myself!
