I don't know if this is true or not... I got this in an email and wanted to share it, just in case it was true. Subject: Do Not Call List REMINDER,....11 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies, and you will start to receive sales calls. .....YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number. HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS OR GO TO: www.donotcall.gov

Its me again, I did some research the number and the link are genuine, the thing that is not right is that the telemarketers are not allowed to call cell phones. You can register land line and cell phones on the do not call lists. Thanks again.

they wont be happy if they call my line anyway....this is what you do to telemarketers: tell them to hold on a minute while you get a pen and paper, leave the phone sitting beside your stereo and crank the volume. tell them to hold on a minute, find some obscene video, or dvd you have, put it on and let them listen!! they usually hang up after 1 or 2 minutes!!

This does look like a hoax to me. I checked out the website, and it seems....unofficial. Do not put your phone numbers on the list. Don't take any risks.

This is just another chain email like these virus alerts and things. These should not be taken seriously. Telemarketeers can find your number from directories or just random sampling. But the companies are prohibited to divulge information to any outsider. Also getting continuosly can be reported as harassment.

Read this entirely and it should silent your fears about this subject. http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/cell411.asp In my own opinion if cell phone companies were to hand over cellphone holders numbers the company could possibly be held accountable and be sued for it. In which I do not think cell phone companies would like to take such a risk, and if they were they would risk having their company shut down and possibly going bankrupt. If they have no customer's they have no way of keeping their business afloat. Also I think what telemarketers do is an envasion of people's privacy, we shouldn't have to put our home phone numbers into a "no call" directory.

these calls are not always annoying... why are people afraid of even attending these calls, if you dont want what they are selling or talking about you can always hang up and ask them to not to call back again and they obviously wont cuz they dont want to waste their time.... the only thing i noticed is people are stupid enough that they think if they are going to attent these calls they are going to be fooled by the telemarketer... BE SMART, you should atleast have guts to talk to anyone, any if its something good u should go for it... but people are usually not confident upon theirselves and they think once they pick up the phone they are going to be fooled.

I don't know about calls, but I DID RECEIVE a text message the other day from a marketer. This really made me mad...as I didn't ask for the text message and had to pay for it.

Someone said it wasn't true, I haven't checked it out yet. I have been on the do not call list for my landline phone for awhile. I hope I don't get calls on my cell.

I cannot possibly accept this as a valid service. The website appears to be well thought out, but the content in the form of the service is absurd. I can only assume that either the number quoted to phone is a premium line, or that it is a way of collecting mobile phone numbers and email addresses to sell to others. In either case it is certainly not the type of service that I would respond to.

This is a scam and has been going on for years now. I have heard about this for a long time and have been told by many people that this is not valid. Everyone should be careful since if you give your number, you might start getting telemarketing calls on your cell phone.

Thank you for the info. I don't know if it is true or not,but I am passing it on to everyone I know as well just in case. It is better to be safe than sorry :) I really don't see how this would be allowed as it is set up differently than a landline(which I have added to the list long already) cause you're paying per minute instead of a set rate each month (which I think someone SHOULD come out with as I personally use my cell more than the landline). These rates are already high, if they did this my bill would be insane!!

Actually it's illegal for Creditors AND/OR Telemarketers to call your cell phone. If they do you can sue and win a lot of money out of it, Weather or not YOU were the one who gave it to them. Make sure you check the government guidelines, it'll show you the real laws. hope this helps, Peace and love be with you Blessed be.
