Just wondering how many women out there have children to fathers who work and are receiving government payments and seem to be getting away with only paying $10.00 per fortnight...

Well, there is a way around that if you knew who he worked for and for how long you could asked that person to write out a statement saying that he has paid your husband this so and so amount. Most people don't like to get involved but a good person will help you out and with this proof you will start recieving more.

I received child support off my sons father for a total of 2 months and i got $5.00 a fortnight cause he was on the dole, Now seriously how is $5.00 a fortnight spose to do anything even his diapers cost more then a fortnight and then formula and clothing and all the rest it wouldnt of even covered half of what i spent each week! It is wrong, i know being on the dole you dont get a huge amount of money but he was working cash in hand as well but even without that i think fathers on the dole should have to pay more then $5 a fortnight, and its not like he had bills he lived with his parents!

Well i agree they should pay more than a $5 per fortnight. You can't buy anything for a baby or anything like medicine with $5. And the government give you access to $500 loans to pay off each year at a rate of i think about $40 per fortnight - if they can afford to make that repayment they can afford to take more out of their beneifit for their children as well! And yes well in your case, his parents should be making sure he pays a bit more if he's living at home with them. Just makes me mad with these useless twits as fathers out there. Thanks for your reply :)

True... but he never puts in his tax returns and i believe he's using someone elses abn number so they won't know he's working and he said he's not paying tax till the end of the year, which you can't do and he wouldn't be able to afford this then anyway.

i suffered the same with my ex-husband, not a single cent freely given for child support until i took it to court which forced him to finally give, which is still intermittent.

Yeah its really stupid - like the money is spent on their child and they should be happy to pay and help out for the upbringing of his child. thanks for your reply! :)

I have been in contact with child support and they do nothing. I have told him he's working etc and said they would investigate it but was told i have to fill in a huge form etc but they just don't do their job.
