As we say goodbye to 2006 and welcome in the baby New Year of 2007 why do people go outside and shoot their guns into the air? This makes no sense at all to me. This is totally ludicris of how this form of celebrating started and why it can't be stopped. Don't these people realize that the bullets that they are spraying into the sky will eventually come back down and possibly injure or kill someone? I just watched a news reoort about this disturbing way of welcoming in the New Year. It said that the authorities receive so many calls around midnight that they can't possibly answer all the calls and last year an innocent toddler was hit by a bullet as she was laying sleeping in her crib-the bullet came throught the roof and hit her. She is blessed to have survived this horrible ordeal. I don't even know how people can protect themselves from this sort of truly senseless celebrating. What are your thoughts on this subject?

Back home in "Puerto Rico" this was a huge problem. Well, it still is, but after so many advrtisements and amovie production based on a true story, only one personwas hit by a bullet, according to the police reports.I think this number should go down to zero, but at least they made a great improvement.

That's a wonderful improvement. I just don't see any media really telling people about the dangers. The only thing I saw was a tiny little clip on the news and I only saw it one time. We need some sort of an awareness campaign. Thanks for sharing. Glad to see that Puerto Rico did something about this type of celebrating.
