Over 3,000 Dead

Well, we have now reached our 3,000 mark in American Military casualties, surpassing the number dead from 9/11. I for one, think it is WAY PAST TIME we got our soldiers out of harms way and home where they belong. The Iraqi's themselves seem slow to learn and even slower to real action; I would press that they all but seem unwilling to take on the responsbilities to secure their boarders and clean up their streets. Instead, the American Soldier is strapped with their burdens. We are losing lives daily to a war that has spun into something we never expected to have to deal with: A Civil War. We have already had ours and it cost us dearly, let them have theirs and pick up the peices wherever they may fall.
The President himself (If that is what you want to call him) of Iraq seems to be more a man of talk then a man of action, looking for the next meeting to "talk about things." If one was to take a careful look at their armed military and/or police force, you will see that they are scared. They do not know how attack/defend a situation as we Americans do and take control of serious matters. After all, they lived under a Dictator for how many years? Do we really believe they are even capable securing and maintaining order in their cities and borders? And let us not forget that we have thousands of weapons unaccounted for in this war that have fallen into the hands of insurgents and are being used to kill our own.
I say we have done what we could for this broken country. We have given our very best, we have freed them from a mad-man; a man who used his own people for experimentations, a man with no conscious thought to another human being, only to his will was Sadam true. I say we bring our people home and let them sort things out. We have already had our Civil War, we do not need theirs.
At the very least, our President (And I voted for the man) needs to grow a spine, stop denying how badly things have gone over there, and set an iron-clad time-table for withdrawl. Period. Stop talking about it and make the right decision and stand by it. He has lost our trust and confidence, that is not going to change so just do the right thing! At least then, if we set firm deadline, one we keep instead of putting off until "next year," then we just might light a fire under the Iraqi butts to motivate them to learn from the verey best this world has to offer and then to execute what they are taught, AND do not defect to the other side afterwards! Maybe then, with a little integrity and hard work the people of Iraq will have something proud to believe in and stand and fight for.~Rj

Excellent writing! Very refreshing to read something so thought out here. Thank you for sharing. I'm happy to see your mind has changed about our president.

We went in on false intelligence and our young and their young are paying for it with their lives. This is Vietnam all over again. It is past time to leave.
