Dear friends my advice to all is eating rice (more than 100 grams cooked) is of no use to body instead it is harmful from diet point of view.
Consuming excess rice in daily food can cause in raising abdomin, weight, dozyness, more calories and very little vitamin value. There are so many other dishes which are tasty and have good vitamin value. One should be Diet conscious than the TASTE.
To avoide further health problems & over weight avoid eating rice!
A longer life and shorter the approach.
Rest is left to you.

Processed, white rice is only empty calories because the nutritional value is stripped in the processes the rice goes through in preparation for the market. Whole grain brown rice, whole grain wild rice and other whole grains are very good for the body, very nutritious, and contain needed vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients for a long and healthy life. All foods should be eaten in moderation, with the most emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables.
Here's a link to a nutrition website called 5 a day, you can enter your age and gender and other details and get your own daily diet analyzed for free, and you will also receive daily dietary recommendations.

I THINK YOU SHOULD EAT AT LEAST A CUP OF RICE EACH MEAL AND NO MORE THAN THAT BECAUSE RICE HAS CARBOHYDRATES WHICH CAN HELP YOU UP DURING BUSY HOURS OF THE DAY. ADDED WITH A LOT OF VITAMIN AND MINERAL ENRICHED FOODS WILL BE GOOD TO YOUR DIET.

I am not of same opinion with you. Since rice is the prime food of majority people in the whole world. It will be certainly offencive to say all to stop eating rice! Is there any similar substitute for rice with respect to price, easy self preparation method, easy digest and varieties of food application? Certainly no. As per your indication towards health problems, it is all due to consuming excess rice that you have indicated. What of rice, consuming anything excess is adverse for health! So the quantity to be consumed is to be decided considering the conditions of health and activities of the person. For persons working with table-task, 100 to 150 gms per day is a balanced amount. But if we think of the field-labouring persons in agricultural or construction sector, they may take double amount of this per day as rice (carbohydrate) provides quick energy and easy digestion. So the same quantity will not stand fixed for every persons in separate working sectors. Only in case of obesity and diabatics, use of rice or other forms of carbohydrates may be controlled as advised by the physician. But a normally healthy person can never find an equal and all time substitute for RICE. Please visit my topic on rice. Thanks.

yeh ive been hearing about the process the grain goes through that takes away almost all of the nutritional value (in not just rice) but sugar, bread ....just think of it like this all the foods that are made from grains are suppose to have color to them .....so how did it get white?..... BLEACH. so eating too much of that can harm you. good advice take care.

Umm What about asians, i know this may sound stereotypical but i thought that many of their dishes are prepared with rice so if what you are saying is true it should be hurting them. But last time i checked they are very healthy although the fact that they eat alot of healthy sea food could help too.

here's what i can say about this; everything taken in excess is not good for the health. even vitamins if you take in more than necessary will do you no good at all but might even have some bad side effects on your health. it is not just rice but every thing that is taken in excess is. greetings. : )

this definition of extra rice is always very vague... for example here somebody said that in thailand rice is part of their daily diet.. that means they eat it 3 times a day with meat and that does not mean entire thailand is full of fat people.
try avoiding fried rice.. boiled rice is ok!

I live in Thailand so if I stop eating rice I stop eating. Rice is our primary food with meat treated as a condiment. We eat a lot of vegetables and some sea food but on the whole our main food is rice. The saying here is ‘Rice with every bite.’

PREVIOUSLY ,MEANS 50 TO 60 YEARS BACK OR 100 YEARS BACK,PEOPLE USED TO EAT AROUND HALF KG PER PERSON.THEY USED TO STAY HEALTHY AND BODILY FIT.THERE WERE NO MUCH HEALTH PROBLEMS.NOW A DAYS WE ARENT EATING HALF OF IT ,YET WE ARE WORRYING ABOUT HEALTH PROBLEMS.I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT THESE HEALTH PROBLEMS OR DIET PROBLEMS DOESNT ARISE OUT OF RICE,THESE COME FROM FAST FOODS WE ARE CONSUMING HEAVILY.ITS THAT MUCH GOOD AS U EAT THAT MUCH RICE.THERE IS NO POINT IN AVOIDING RICE ON THE NAME OF DIET CONSCIOUS.

I've eaten rice since I was born, so I don't see cutting rice out of my diet happening anytime soon.
Brown & wild rice are better for you than white. I try to eat all but mostly white. Plus I control my portions. I'm in great shape right now, I'm not going to lose sleep over eating white rice.

Well, it would be kinda difficult for me to just stop eating rice bec here in my country it is our staple food and I've been used to eating rice since I was a kid.
I believe anything that is taken in excess is always unhealthy.
