Is it possible to eradicate poverty completely???personally i think it is not possible to eradicate poverty completely becoz of the enormous number of poor people around us....here are some facts abt poverty 1)Every year nearly 11 million children die before their fifth birthday 2)800 million people go to bed hungry every day 3)In 2001,1.1 billion people had consumption levels below $1 a day and 2.5 billin people lived on less than $2 a day SO...What do u think???

we have a world body called the united Nations. But my feeling is the organization is run as per the whims of the security council members. The main question is why there is a security council at all. All members should have equal right to vote and majority vote would decide the matter. If the UN becomes truly democratic then the ways for eradicating poverty can be discussed. In the present state the individual nations have to take the responsibility of eradicating poverty in their own country.

Perhaps the most important thing that is needed is the will to end poverty. The United Nations was begun with the best of intentions and it still does some great work. However, as any beauracracy would function, it becomes caught in a web of politics that often makes it difficult to function effectively. However, if enough countries wanted to end poverty, I do think it would be possible...or let's just say I think that everyone could easily be fed enough every day to survive...and that's a good beginning.

Poverty will continue as long as people don't control the population. You would have notices that in some developed countries the government has to plead with the people with incetives to produce children. But in the case of poor countries the women are virtually baby making machines.

i beg to disagree. poverty can be eradicated if all of us begin to share something with our less fortunate brethren. ever heard of the parable of the five loaves and two fish, and how it fed more than 5,000 people? the food did not multiply, literally, it was the miracle of sharing that made it possible for all people to eat.

Poverty will not dissappear....it has been with mankind since ages...even when i think barter system was there they had a system to distinguish rich and poor...and even then poor were exploited...and it will go on... Do u think the rich care of poor...NO!!...the US can spend billions to build weaponry that they will probably never use but will not give a poor country monetary support that is a must for their upliftment... And even these people also dont learn when the govt. wants to help... they ask them to control population they dont listen...they want more hands as it will get them more money....HAHA... And the corruption....i dont even want to start on that.... SO Poverty will never ever stop to exist

In my own opinion, I think we can eradicate poverty if we really wanted to. What are our taxes for? For example here in my country, the problem is that almost of our officials are corrupt.

which country are you from\? Once an ex PM said it that each rupee allotted for development is siphoned off and only 14 paise reaches the actual scheme. so its not a matter of need but greed thats stopping us from eradicating poverty.

I dont derstand why you people misunderstand Asia. look it was Asia which used to be more prosperous than the europeans but then for colonialism Europeans started exploiting Asians and sowed seed of trouble. India was a poor country but with our effort we have turned the table and i sincerely beleive other states can do it as well if there is will and no nose poking from americans and Europeans.

I think it is possible to completely eradicate poverty, but it requires two things that I feel is impossible to ask of for the human race. One, for everybody (in the world) above the poverty line to just contribute $1 a month to eradicating poverty. Two, for upright organisations to ensure this aid money is distributed fairly and efficiently. But since humans are by nature selfish, I highly doubt that those two tasks can be accomplished.

I dont think we can eradicate poverty coz most people living in slums tend to sell the property that the government is giving them and agin goes back to the slum.

I believe the only way poverty can ever end it if everyone gave 10% of their income. People look too much to their governments to solve problems like this when the truth is we as humans all have to stop being so selfish and think of others more. Isn't it easier to blame the governments and expect them to take care of the problem, rather than to give some of our money, food or time?

NO, it is not possible to completely eradicate poverty. But it can be controlled to a great extent if the rich people wish to really do so. i personally feel that rich people should do something to help the poor like creating jobs for them etc. we can help to control poverty in the future by sponsoring the children for their studies those who cannot afford so that they have a better tomorrow. i pray to god to help the poor people.

eradicate completely? no. A brief look at history will show that poverty has been a societal problem since time immemorial. Society has always been plaqued by the presence of the poor. Now that we have good social scientists the problem is still here and getting worse and worse. There are good ideas for a solution every now and then but there's just no enough political will to implement good approaches.

I really don't think it has anything to do with population. Look at how many people in the U.S. are bsttling with obesity. We're overfed!!! We have a freaking surplus of food and we have tremendous medical technology and supplies. And so do a lot of other developed countries. Even homeless people in this country can find food and get a roof over their heads in a shelter, if they choose. I think it boils down to greed and fear.

I don't think you can ever eliminate it for the whole world. Even in countries that are poor but get a lot of aid money, corrupt governments often steal the money instead of giving it to the poor. Poor people can be living in areas that are very remote or are unsafe for aid workers to travel to. There are a lot of problems in solving poverty.

We can never get rid of poverty because there are too many greety people in the world. Those that are very fortunate stay that way by keeping the poor in poverty. Poverty is one of those things that will never be eradicated.

I don't think we can eradicate poverty because there is really no incentive to do it. If there was, we would have done it in the USA already. We are the richest country in the world and we could find enough money in the couch cushions of US homes to save Africa, but we are too corrupt and selfish to do so. I think the capitalist system that I enjoy here in sunny Florida only works if we an uneven distribution of wealth and services.
