Is it something you just have for another person automatically? Or do they have to earn your trust first? How gullible are you?

i think we try and give a certain degree of trust on face value and a person keeps it or loses it...but the deeper the relationship, the more you need to earn the trust as it is on a deeper level. unfortunately there are too many out there nowadays who take advantage of that trust we give when just meeting someone...assuming, or hoping i guess, they will do to you as you would do to them and not do something to break that trust...

my boyfriend and i trust each other so much - despite the disntance, my boyfriend and i keep our trust for each other on high level.
my boyfriend trusted in me automatically. i trusted him too in an instant. even if it's hard to keep the long distance relationship alive, we are doing well because we trust each other so much. trust should be kept well and taken cared of. once lost, it's forever gone.

I think that initially it is an assumption that you have that the person concerned will do the right thing. Maybe naive in today's world! Depends on the circumstances also. If I was to share a secret with someone or devote my love and life to them they would need to earn my trust and I would expect to have to earn theirs.

I think trust is a natural thing. Lets say you are flying in a plane, then don't you automatically trust the pilot? If you are undergoing a surgery, don't you automatically trust the surgeon? Don't you trust your spouse, children, parents etc? and trust is really essential to life!
