SORRY to break everyone's heart, but the odds onHarry Potter surviving the Deathly Hallows is lessening. A leading Britis book maker Willam Hill has opened the book on "Who kills Harry Potter", and revealed that punters are now betting on Harry being killed off, with Voldmort as the odds on favourite villain, with Harry himself a favourite. Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams said: "J K mentioned that Harry might be killde off and the general consensus seems to be that Harry is the final Horcrux and to ensure that Voldermort dies he will need to be sacrificed."He added, "most of the early money has been for Harry who has ben cut from 10/1 to 6/1 and Voldemort remains the odds on the theory that Harry will be faced with having to kill himself in order to destroy Voldemort. William Hill said it has been betting onthe culprit for three months. Professor Snape (5/2), gets better odds that Haary as his killder, but Darco Malfoy and Ron Weasley are both equally favoured at 6/1. Oddly, Hermione Granger gets only 14/1 odds, just ahead of Neville Longbottom. Of coure, the bookies have qualified that everyone gets their money back if Harry survies, but a growsing number of fans seem to hold to the theroy that Harry will be faced with having to kill himself in order to destroy Voldemort.
The first time Hills opened a book on pop culture whodunit was in the 1970s when they bet on "Who Shot J R. At the time over 25 million people were watching Dallas and when archvillain HR Ewing got shot in the last episode of the series, it become a subject of national debate. It proved so popular tht it actually took more money that horse racing inthe last few days of betting.
Days after JK Rowling finally revealed that title of the new book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, dae of publicaton still unknown, besides the ctitical question of who dies, or rather which rotter will pot Potter, bettors have also been putting a lot of money on a whole lot of subsidiary twists and turns in the plot - other potty Potter punts as Hill said in a statement. Bets taken include Ron and Hermione to marry, whith Harry As best man at 8/1, and then neme him Harry at 5/1, Ron to bump off Draco at 20/1, and even a bet on Harry to catch the snithch in a quiddith world dup at 33/1.
Given Rowling;s taste for tears revealing the shape and outline of her books, there's clearly room for many more changes in the odds before Harry or Voldemort have to face the Deathly Hallows. Wannat bet?
