Why are some women trying so hard to be beautiful?

Statistics on cosmetic surgery states that the number of Americans who had something cosmetically and surgically done has increased by 444% since the collection of statistics first began in 1997. This is amazingly high, right? Majority of cosmetic procedures were done by women - nearly 10.5 million of them. People who are in the 35 - 50 age group are the most frequent clients. The most popular procedures are botox, liposuction, laser hair removal and breast augmentation. Doesn't it make you wonder why these women try so hard to be beautiful?

I don't beautify myself because I want to attract men. I'm happily married. I beautify myself because it makes me feel good and I like it.

Yeah, what's the point of make up when at the end of the day it comes off and you have to reveal the real you.
I sometimes wonder if men actually like makeup more than they are willing to admit.

Their stupid that's why! I mean they don't appreciate God's gift. They are the ones who critize other people and then try to make themselves look beautiful. These people feel insecure about themselves so they go for artifial beauty which they think makes them look beautiful. They may look nice for a while but in the long run they are only hurting themselves.
Beauty is God gifted and cannot be man-made!

If the people who have gotten cosmetic surgery were really proud of what they did, then there's no reason to be irritated when some people don't agree with their decision. Just smile at them --- if you don't then that would be another expense for you since you woud need to cover up those wrinkles with botox lol. What I mean is, stop trying to defend your decisions or looking for validation from other people. If you think cosmetic surgery has made you look and feel beautiful, then keep teling yourself that. There's nothing wrong with trying so hard to be beautiful if you get the results you wanted.
Here are some surveys conducted about why people go under the knife:

women between 35 to 50 are most concius of their look because this is the time when the evidence of age is apearing, Every woman wants to appear beautiful, those who does not care about their looks will develop inferiority, because inside a woman there is always a feeling to look beautiful.

Women are trying so hard to be beautiful because they like it. For me, it's their own point of view. We have to respect them. They do it because they want it. Go for it for as long as you're happy. For me, the essence of being beautiful comes not only in physical appearance but also in attitude. I give more importance to my attitude towards people rather than trying so hard to be beautiful. We are all beautiful in the eyes of God.

maybe because alot of men are also superficial. some women do drastic changes to their bodies to impress guys and sometimes even their girlfriends. Media has also a role to play here since all we see on tv are the 'beautiful' people meaning skinny, fair skinned, tall, etc. but hey, maybe they just have self-esteem issues.

I think as you. I believe that today the women make great changes for please other people.
I am not thus. He would never make something in me to only please somebody.
I think that this is missed. Not alive in accordance with the standards of the society.

I'm not sure. I've never wore make up or anything but people feel the need to to "look good" I'm not saying make up looks awful but its just abit much adding stuff to yourself to "look pretty" Everyone is beautiful in a way. And I think they do it for men, or to impress their men. I think thats sick, And cosmetic surgery is worse you don't need anything done to be beautiful. You are who you are, What you were given is what you should accept, and get on with your life, I dunno why people try and impress others by doing stuff like this, its really sick and eww. It shouldn't be allowed, and hardly any of these turn out right, nice or even as planned. You can always tell if someones had surgery to alter their body weither you've known them all your life or you just pass them in the street. And once thats done, you can't fixed it without looking even more *Plastic* To be honest I don't see the points and I would never ever have it done. Its stupid changing yourself after any amount of time, And I disagree with it.

I think that some women tend to find little flaws with their appearance, and feel that it is neccessary to fix the flaw. And that some women do not want to appear old, so they have minor procedures done to keep them appearing young. At least it is better than what Countess Elizabeth BAthery had done in her time. Use the blood of innocent girls to keep her looking young. She used to bathe in their blood.

Women want to keep their sense of beauty seen in their body. So they're trying all kinds of cosmetics. We cann't make out what's artificial beauty and natural beauty. When women become aged, they're worried about their past glory. So aged women are the frequent visitors of beauty parlours. This is not women's legacy alone, men also are not behind. Let the cosmetic companies grow at the cost of these people.

It does make you wonder. I guess they just want to look younger so they go have these procedures done. I guess they care too much about what the world thinks.

Well I believe that they should try being beautiful naturaly, like exercise + good diets. All these things ruin their faces.

I'm sure for some women it truly is them improving on something they don't like. They are confident in themselves and feel good as a person, but just want to fix their nose or whatever. For others I think they're trying to fix their outside when it's their inside they need to work on. They don't feel good about themselves and think if they look better, they'll feel better about themselves.

I think it's society today. There is so much pressure to be perfect looking. A lot of those people too are aspiring actors & models. And we all know there is way too much pressure to have the perfect body in those industries.

I think it's basically as a result of vanity and to a good extent due to peer pressure. Television (all the soap divas) has also contributed to people, especially women, trying to "modify" their looks. In all, I believe this just goes to show a very terrible lack of self esteem.
