MySpace connections to life

Okay, so everyone knows about MySpace now. It is the biggest craze. I am not big into things that are trendy, but a friend was telling me about their page and I wanted to see it. Of course, you have to sign up and make a page in order to look at other people, so I made a very basic profile. Then I found myself spending hours online searching for a really cool layout for my new page. Then came glitter, and banners. There are games, songs, surveys, so much stuff that you could spend the rest of your life editing your MySpace. I got hooked. I never thought it would happen to me, but it did. Then I started searching for old friends and I found some people I haven't talked to in years. That is what made it all worthwhile. I got reconnected with old friends from highschool or before that I really missed not hanging out with. So now I love MySpace. I check my MySpace more than I check my email. I am still not into the hype and I delete friends that I don't talk to regularly. I never add people I don't know, unless we start talking every day. Even then, "computer friends" usually stop talking at some point, and they get deleted. What do you think? Do you have a MySpace account? What kind of friends do you have? Do you know all of them?

I started Myspace acount of of concern of how these young girls are giving out too much personal info over the internet and psychos' finding them. I wanted to search and make sure the young people I knew wasn't getting involved into this dangerous thing called myspace. I felt guilty becasue I was finding people I knew on here and people I've not seen or talked to in years. I too did the same as you became fasinated in how to make a killer profile and have spent hours looking for cool graphics and searching for friends. At first I didn't tell my honey because I didn't want him to think I was meeting men or old boyfreinds. He knows now but doesn't say any thing. I at one point had more guys than ladies and deleted them all out of panic. I've had old aqauintences send me requests and most of them I've deleted or I too might have over 100 friends or so called. I do have two that I've never met but we mostly share blogs and they are females. I love my space if used wisely it's a wonderful site:)

You bring up a good point about jealous spouses. I have a friend who is married and her husband first encouraged her to meet more people on MySpace. For example, she met a guy that said he was one of the equipment managers for the Bucs. Her husband told her to schmooze this guy up and flirt with him to see if he would get her tickets. Then he got mad at her when she did. I have always had many guy friends myself, and some guys don't accept that easily without being jealous. MySpace is totally harmless, unless you actually start going out with these people. Just because you have friends online doesn't mean you are doing anything wrong. Even if you go meet someone you aren't necessarily doing anything wrong, unless you choose to. People need to have their own friends so that they can keep their identities in a marriage.

I know mine trust me but there is always that thing in the back of thier minds. I just perfer not to cause conflict. I kept the ones' who were gunine freinds I grew up with and not an old boyfriend. What made me delete those is my very first boyfreind was on there and filling out surveys' saying well If Michelle wasn't married and I wasn't then I'd love to see her again or make love to her and that made me uneasy. It's best to keep the men to a minimum. I can't believe your friends hubby would tell her to do that. I would've felt like he was testing my commitment to him!

Lot of discussions on Myspace. very good that people have good opinion about this site. But nobody discussed anything about the availability of the site. No, the site is not functioning due to some changes..... given below is the message we get when we open the link The function that you are currently trying to use is disabled and will be back shortly. We are making some minor changes to this section, please bear with us until we can get this back online. Please do NOT email me about this. Just wait it out. 1/2/2007 -Tom

Ive never tried MySpace, i have recieved many emails regarding joining it. I have joined Bebo instead which enables you to do many of the same things, recieve comments & talk to friends, add and delete friends, add song videos, make your won videos and also display any pictures or photographs. So far i realli like Bebo as i also allows me to emial friends that i dont see so often and is very handy. Have you ever tried Bebo? Do you think MySpace is better?

I have never tried Bebo so I can't tell you which is better. I guess you would have to go with which one of them has more people you know on it. That is why I am on MySpace, to find old friends. Since there are millions of people on it, my chances of finding people are really good. I don't know how popular Bebo is.

I only opened my Myspace account originally to be able to see some pictures and videos of a band that were on Myspace that I had to be logged in to view. Now I have actually filled out my profile, found some friends on there that I had not talked to in years, and am looking around at all of the cool layouts and glitter and all that sort of thing. I still prefer Xanga because I like writing journal entries, but Myspace is a pretty nice place to hang out as well.

You can write journals in MySpace too, they are called Blogs. You can make them so everyone can see them, or just you can read them privately.

I also have a myspace account. I just joined it out of curiosity just ot see what it was all about. I only have a basic profile over there. And i too don't like giving out too much personal information on internet. But i am still new as i just joined recently and will have to wait and see if i find my old friends and acquaintances on nmyspace. But frankly i am not a big fan of these trendy things and i do things at my own pace and time. I'll discussion forums like mylot more. I have more fun on mylot than anywhere else. here we air our views, have friends, and also get paid in real money. Thanks mylot.

Ahhh myspace is my love. Funny thing is.. I was one of those "I'm never getting one of those!" Yeah.. then about two years ago hell froze over and I made one. I've been hooked ever since. My profile is private. I do have people added that I don't know, but only because they're in my mommy group (I'm a mod of a mommy group on myspace) so I have to add them :P.

MySpace is definitely a lot of fun once you get into it. As far as a mentor as the last comment stated, I am sure there are millions of people willing to share their expertise!! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I joined myspace about a year ago after my friends bugging me. I now have found several old friends that I thought I would never find again. I don't add people that I don't know. And it's a good way to keep an eye on my 15 yr old sister!! My mom calls me the online babysitter, since I live 240 miles away.

sounds like you got reeled in by the trendy myspace....but it s good that your not all about "look at me i have 200 friends and know personally 10 of them". i had a myspace but was finding myself competing with one of my friends on who had the most friends. i found myself asking random people to be my friend and i hated the feeling. since my other friend had more friends on myspace then me, he gave me crap, so i was like f-myspace, on got rid of it. myspace is a site were the computer illeterate people can actually make a website, thats why its so popular.

You hit the nail right on the head. MySpace is definitely designed for the average person. You don't have to know programming or code or anything to create a cool page to show yourself off. That is what hooks a lot of people. It is also a free place to post your site and get it lots of attention. Of course the attention is what is causing some of the problems. There are always some people who have to abuse something designed for fun and use it to try to molest little kids.

I have a myspace account, if theres anyone new I meet, and I start to hang with them, I add them as a friend. I don't delete them, because theres no limt on my amount of friends I can have. I know atleast half of them, and the people I don't know, I don't try and meet them. I don't really check my myspace anymore, as its old stuff for me. But when I first got one, I was on it all the time. Then I realized that it was wasting my life. But thats just how I think, don't listen to me.

I do not as yet have a my space. I used to but I jsut stopped doing it. I have seen some really cool MySpace pages like my friend who's online name is Ms. Pebbles. She built this really cool page for her son's ages 2 and 10 month twins (where did she find the time?) with the music from... You guessed it the flintstone's. Now I have had some really coold suggestions for a Myspace page and I think I may rejoin.

Yes, I do have a Myspace page. The only reason why I have one, is because I use it to promote my video's. It's a source of revenue for me. I will add just about anyone, except for bands. I have about 90 friends on there.

I know what you mean. I got a little hooked for awhile. That is the reason I got into mylot, because I wanted to get something for wasting my time on the computer. I do want to point out that people need to reveal less about themselves on myspace because they can get into trouble or even worse.

I have myspace account...I find it similar with friendster but in myspace there's a lot of layouts to choose from...I think in myspace there's no limitation like friendster. I've have plenty of friends there but I really don't know them, they just add me and I just approve them. Right now, I prefer to use friendster because I have a lot of friends there.
