do you have photos of your family members all around your home?

I noticed that some of my friends have photos of their children and parents everywhere in their home, and some people dont. In my family we didnt really do this when i was growing up. My parents were rather modest around the camera. So now i dont that either. But now i was thinking to do this for the new year and put family photos around my apartment. It seems like a bigger mental issue than i thought. I will have to ask my parents for photos and they will be embarassed i think to pose for the camera. I will have to ask all my brothers and their children for photos. I will also have to make sure that I do not leave anybody missing or maybe someone will ask where are they. I am not married so therefore I cannot use the excuse that my wife wants to hang pics.. Is this normal, i mean maybe i am creating a big deal from nothing, but where do i start? Have done this from scratch? I have no pics anywhere of my family on my walls.

My mom always had and still has pictures all over her wall. I guess that this just rubbed off on me. I do not go to her extent though. I only one wall to family pictures and when I get a new one of someone I just put it over the old picture in the same frame. Just send your family an email or letter saying that you are doing some new decorating in your home and would like all to send pictures. Then you can hang the ones you like and make a collage of the others. These always look good in frames. Have fun with it and don't worry about what everyone thinks, we all reach an age that we want to have our families close by and this is one way to do it.

I love having pictures of my family up around my house. I always did growing up. The best thing I would say to you is to take a camera to your next family get together and say you want some pictures of the family around. I like it beacuse I get to see them even though I do not get to see them in person every day. You can get the picture collage frames where you can put many differnt pictures into one frame. They are only like $7-$10 at walmart. It will get you started. Then continue to update the frame or add new ones with pictures you have taken.

I've never understood why people have photos of family members around the home ... personally I'd be embarrassed by my lot (no, no, not MyLot .. but 'my lot' hahah!!) ... and I feel it's rather creepy too ... it's like all those eyes are watching everything you do ... I'd be able to feel those eyes on my back ... or hear the tut tutting when I don't sweep up for a week .. So, no fear .. no photos for me ... I haven't even got a photo album ... and I rarely if ever allow anyone to take a picture of me ... I just hate being photographed ... no idea why either ...

Do you all get together from time to time? This is a great time to get photos. You mentioned you brothers family. Most families get pictures done they may be honored that you asked for one. I don't think it is such a big deal I would ask. Is funny because my mom had photos' everywhere. I don't but my sister does.

If you want pictures of your family on the wall ther eis nothing wrong with that. As long as the pictures that you are displaying protray your family in a positive way there is nothing wrong with it. My wife and I have family pictures all over the house. Every were we look in most of our house you will see a picture of one of our kids. I think that it is important to have pics of your family, for me if I am having a bad day if I take a look at one of the picture it just kinda brightes my day. Go ahead, get those pics and put them up!

it seems to be the most important part of your walls. This can become very special.

I have photos of my immediate family on a bookcase in the spare room, but don't put photos of family members on the walls. I just feel that they are for me to enjoy, but that everyone who comes to my house won't appreciate pictures of mom & dad, etc. in the living room. Not that I'm hiding them, of course. I guess that I feel that family photos are more of a personal thing.

well in my family its the complete opposite.i have pictures of me as a baby til now.we love taking pictures and yes we have lots and lots of family pictures around our house.we also have a family picture done in charcoal, and you can see it right after you open our front door.well it's good that you are starting to get into the spirit of cherishing memories..it's nice to look at old pictures and remember special occasions that have gone by.good luck on what you are starting right now.try filling up an entire album this year, you'll find it very useful, and fulfilling.

Perfectly normal...always good to have a few family pics around. At the next family "gathering" take a disposable camera. Casually walk around and snap photos of everyone. This way it won't look like you are trying to get pictures and no one will be shy when you take the pictures.

I have only a couple of frames on a wall - each containing two photos. To be honest, i feel it's too much to have photos all over the house, it doesn't look great if they don't match, aren't positioned right, etc.

I had photos of my children on the walls but took them down to paint and never put them back up. Thats the first time I had anything on the wall. I prefer smaller photos in a frame on the bookshelve rather than having anything on the wall. Maybe your brothers have photos of your parents and you can copy suitable for framing on your wall. Honestly, my parents are the same way. We didnt have a family photo so one day I made an appointment for just my parents and siblings. I was happy everyone showed up and it was the first time we were all photographed in one location.

yes, you understand what i mean then... it is a first time event, and it is a bit strange, but i will say i want memories and my visual family history to begin in my own way.

There is nothing to think more about it. Tell them you would like to have their photoes posted on the walls. So you want to stick them on the walls, so you would want them to come with you and give a pose for the camera. They understand, they feel great about your feeling, So they will help you out. It is not a big deal, so dont think much about it. Think about making your idea work.

some people do it because they give much value to family ties. It's important for them to be prouf of their family, parents, relatives and etcetera and also because of tradition. But if you ask me, it depends on you if you want some pictures up all over your house.

My family had a few pictures around the house when I was growing up. My mom really hated having her picture taken and she didn't really like home decorating that much, so I think that is why. Me, on the other hand, I have lots of pictures around my apartment. I put up pictures of me & my bf's family and our friends and lots of us! lol. In fact, for Christmas, I got a big huge picture frame that could probably fit about 30 pictures in it. I love it so much. It is not a problem, though, if you want to ask people for pictures. Sometimes I have to remind people or ask them for pictures, but usually they have extras and don't mind. That is why people get their picture taken in the first place!

its so strange how people are so sensitive about their own photo, more in the past than now a days, but my parents will probably give me photos if i ask. I have none!
