Windows Vista is known throughout the tech industry as being a system resource hog. I myself run Windows Vista final version, and I have found that it runs great even on "low end" systems I am typing this on a computer that has 512MB RAM 2.4Ghz P4 with hyper threading enabled an nvidia Geforce 4 MX 440 with 64MB video RAM. I see some lag, however it works great overall. Here are the system requirements according to Micrsoft: "A new PC that carries the Windows Vista Capable PC logo can run Windows Vista. All editions of Windows Vista will deliver core experiences such as innovations in organizing and finding information, security, and reliability. All Windows Vista Capable PCs will run these core experiences at a minimum. Some features available in the premium editions of Windows Vista—like the new Windows Aero user experience—may require advanced or additional hardware. A Windows Vista Capable PC includes at least: * A modern processor (at least 800MHz1). * 512 MB of system memory. * A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable. Windows Vista Premium Ready PCs To get an even better Windows Vista experience, including the Windows Aero user experience, ask for a Windows Vista Capable PC that is designated Premium Ready, or choose a PC that meets or exceeds the Premium Ready requirements described below. Features available in specific premium editions of Windows Vista, such as the ability to watch and record live TV, may require additional hardware. A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at least: * 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1. * 1 GB of system memory. * Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)2, Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel. * 40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space. * DVD-ROM Drive3. * Audio output capability. * Internet access capability." While those are the optimum operating environments for Windows Vista here are the minimum system requirements: " Windows Vista Minimum Supported System Requirements Processor 800 MHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor System Memory 512 MB GPU SVGA (800x600) HDD 20 GB HDD Free Space 15 GB Optical Drive CD-ROM drive Note:1Processor speed is specified as the nominal operational processor frequency for the device. Some processors have power management which allows the processor to run at a lower rate to save power. 2 The CD-ROM may be external (not integral, not built into the system). This information has been compiled from multiple sources including but not limited to Microsoft Windows Vista website at www.windowsvista.com Please leave a message if you have any questions about this topic. I will be posting several other discussions on the features, security, internet Explorer 7, and networking.

yes even i would like to knwo about that . cause i heard that it required a lot of ram to run and if that is the case then i dnt think it will be a great success. cause in office people required os which does not take up lot of ram. in my office of web designing i have application like dreamweaver, photoshop, homesite, internet explorers may be 3 4 windows and many more such applications. so if vista takes so much of tram the the pc will get more slow with these applications running. so would stick to xp only.

Usually when you are doing web design you have an upper end computer to use applications like Photoshop. I have run Photoshop on a computer with 1GB RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 Ghz processor with an nvidia GPu with 128MB graphics RAM. It ran great, although it was slightly slow, it still ran quite well.
