Does Anyone Do VARIANT Sudoku?

I've been doing the regular ones for awhile. My friend just taught me the variant ones. They are so much fun. THey are the ones with the lines in them. I'm getting to think they are more challenging and fun than the regular ones. Do you play them and do you have any good tricks?
