We used to have 5 at one time! We had a American quarter horse, a palomino guiding,a paint and were bording a mustang and her new baby. The best thing that I remember was when we were having trouble with a prowler in the neighborhood and we came home one night and the mustang had her baby under the pole light and she was stradling it. As soon as we got out of the car and went to the fence, she left the baby with us and ran down over the hill into the darkness, we heard the fence twang and a blood curdling scream and then she came back up to where we were stand with her baby, with what looked to be the whole butt end of a pair of jeans! lol We never had any prowler after that! Guess he must have gotten emBARRassed?

We had an appaloosa when I was about 11 years old. The horse was huge. I would bring it clover by the handfuls to eat in the spring and summer. My phobia of horses started when my brother who is 5 years younger than me, was bitten on his side by this horse. It left a huge bruise on his abdomen. It left me forever frightened of horses. This horse was gentle, or so thought, up until the day he bit my brother.

When I was younger we had 3 thoroughbreds, an Arabian (my horse), an Appaloosa, a pony (mean little bugger), and a quarter horse. One of the thoroughbreds was a retired race horse - Mr Bojangles. We called him Bo for short. One of the thoroughbreds used to open the gate on his stall, and he would also unscrew the light in the barn with his mouth. He was pretty old when we got him, so I'm not sure where he learned it. I ride Western style. I just couldn't get the hang of the English style. Too prim and proper and the horses seemed to hate it. My brothers, cousins and I were all in 4H and rode in parades, shows, and on drill teams. My horse liked to jump, but my mom didn't really like it - too dangerous. So we only did it out in the back fields when mom wasn't watching.

My Quarter horse's name is Mr. Bojangles (also Bo for short) he was named after a race horse. I wonder if it was yours as mine and the race horse are the only ones I've heard of with that name! I love how you describe the pony, lol. I will never have one! My kids learned how to ride on Quarter Horses, Arabians and Appaloosas. Pony's are cute, but mean and stubborn.

I am working with a Stud Farm in the capacity of a Resident Stud Vet. We have about 250 horses and we are exclusively breed our horses for the purpose of Racing. Our horses are doing pretty well n the track and we have ranked third position last year in the country. We had the opportunity of winning the biggest Race Indian Derby by the horse bred at our Farm Last year! We import horses, apart from breeding them locally, as the breeding stock from America, England, Ireland and France!
