Would you watch L&O: SVU with only Richard Belzer and Ice-T

NBC is resisting negotiations to pay Hargitay and Meloni star scale salaries. Do you think the show will put up the rating numbers and Belzer and Ice-T carrying the show?

I believe that their ratings would drop if Meloni and Hargitay were to leave the show..I didn't like it when they replaced Hargitay this last season when she was on maternity leave so I know I definately wouldn't watch it after they were both gone.I think they make the show, although I do like the roles the other characters play.

I agree with you. The cast was meant to be a large ensemble and really the show became the Elliot and Olivia show. The others are a nice break, but not worth a season of showtime.

There is no question ratings would drop without Meloni, as the show rated high during Hargitay's absence.

The show wouldn't be as good if they got rid of Hargitay and Meloni. SVU would no longe have it's great popularity.

I think if Meloni and Hargitay leave SVU, there would be new actors brought in to replace them while keeping Belzer and Ice-T. I like Belzer's and Ice-T's characters, but they don't have what it takes to carry the show alone. SVU's ratings definitely will take a plunge without Meloni and Hargitay. The question is whether the new actors be able to overcome the ratings slump. The X-Files lasted for two years after David Duchovny quit the series. SVU might be able to pull it off. Because it's the only L&O franchise that allows a glimpse into the leads' private lives, the writers might concentrate on the new characters' private lives more than they did with Stabler and Benson, in order to get the audience more involved with the characters. Despite what the networks tend to think, audiences respond more to the characters in a series more than the situations that happen in a series. It's why SVU is the highest-rated L&O series and the only one that consistantly does well in the ratings.

I would still watch it myself...I like the show the way it is, and i think the show needs her, but I do like Ice-t's character a lot, reruns are ALWAYS on USA!
