I can understand that and actually my husbadn and son both had that attitude whereas my negative attitude was rooted in past bad experiences with therapist and the psych ward actually...I suggest that you give it some thought and try to figure out exactly what it is that makes you uncomfortable? And keep in mind that you dont have to stick with the first therapist you go to..if you arent comfortable with that person then you try someone else and so on....i was lucky and the firt therapist I went to after many many yrs of not going was fantastic, I was at ease with her right away, my son on the other hand didnt like her BUT he is willing to try a different one which is good..

I highly recommend consulting a psychologist, I have in the past myself. It is not just about telling your secrets, it's about how can you get yourself to the next level. Learn what your problems are. Accept them. Then, deal with them. You only get out of it what you put in.

my family already is in therapy. If we could spill our guts out to an unknown, then so can you.

My mother wanted me to go to a psy, but I wouldn't do it...I don't need someone sitting there and asking me about my life...especially if they don't know me... Sorry, but I'm one of those people that thinks, if you don't know me, then how can you honestly try and tell me how I'm feeling, or even listen to my ramblings? I couldn't pour my heart out to a total stranger, that's just the way I am...and if people don't like it, I'm sorry. It's just the way I am.

I do not like to speak about me and even less with strangers and thus I join you on this point

I think a psychologist would be the best person to talk to, as they are bound by the law of confidentiality, which means they cannot talk about you to anyone, not even their collegues or family. Take your time until you find a psychologist you feel comfortable with, there are quite a few of them around and it is very important that you find one you feel comfoprtable enough to open up to. Wishing you all the best!

I have seen a psychologist and it did help somewhat but its not for everyone. However you have nothing to lose by trying it and I know people who swear their life has been changed by them. Do it for you though, not because you feel you have to because your mother has asked. I'm sure that she really cares about you but get some facts first and make sure this is the right help you need (if any). There are plenty of websites out there which can give you more detailed information on psychlogists and the different types. Hope this helps.

It seems to me I don't need to consult but the other side, the fact of speaking to somebody could alleviate my enormous stress but I am afraid that it judges me, I always was afraid of the glance of the others... so I don't know...
