I recently found a kids book called Varjak paw (and it's sequel, The Outlaw Varjak Paw).
The book is by SF Said and illustrated (beautifully) by Dave McKean. It tells the story of a kitten named Varjak Paw who must leave the comfort of his home and learn the ancient martial art of cats, simply known as 'The Way'.
The language is simple, as it IS a children's book, but it really is anentertaining read.

I need to get my butt to the library. I haven't read anything lately. Unless you count manga. I've read manga. I'm reading that Louisiana folklore book, though, Gumbo Ya-Ya. It's pretty good so far, delving into the culture and tradition behind various Mardi Gras celebrations.
Oh, and the fifth Vampire Hunter D novel. I read that. I need to get the sixth one.

I love books on folklore... They're so interesting. I really need to finish one on the Pendle/Lancashire Witches. Pendle Hill is near why my grandma lives and it's one of my favorite places, but a few years back I found out it had been home to some Witch Trials. Two of the women, believed to be the 'ringleader' of sorts, were called Chattox and Demdike. Everything about it seems like such fiction, but it's all real. It facinates me.
I should be getting my Fullmetal and Ouran first and second mangas soon! It'll be my first time reading manga that's not on a computer!

I haven't read for ages, tend to be a slow reader, and the internet takes my reading time up. Made a new years resolution to get reading again. I am reading again David Pelzer's 'Help Yourself' he was the author of A child called it, a very sad but potent story. Help Yourself is a self help book to help you find hope, courage and happiness. I enjoy reading self-help books as well as detective stories.

Oh, my mum read his trilogy. I haven't started it yet. But she said it's sad but...uplifting as you go on and see him grow.
I get distracted by the net too much as well, which is actually why I started on Kids books. My brother's dyslexic which put him off books for a long while, but he started reading quite a bit in the last year, so I've been passing books onto him.

I just recently re-read the Enchanted Forest series by Patricia C. Wrede. I used to love them when I was a kid. They're still pretty fun as an adult to. The stories feature, princesses, knights, dragons, kinds, elves, fire witches, wizards and cats. Check them out sometime.

I am still reading the book "Veronika decides to die" by Paolo Coehlo. It is a nice book which relates the difference between a normal life from a non normal life. We call it craziness but the book says it is not being crasy but it is the concept of being different.

I just finished 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" I liked the first two thirds, but the last third read as if the author had a deadline coming up and he just rushed through it without bothering to tell the story. The moment the mysteries start getting solved is where it ceased to be believable or interesting.
Currently reading "Into The Wild" I like Sean Penn's film of it quite a lot and iam enjoying the book too.
