2007: Year For Reconcilliation

United States
January 1, 2007 6:20pm CST
After making it through 2006 without any major cuts or bruises, I came to the conclusion that this New Year of 2007 should be different; at least for me! I thought: if I can resolve to make peace in my little section of the world and invite many others to do the same world wide; mabye there will be a spark of hope in every country. Maybe there could be World Peace. So, I hold out an invitation to eveyone worldwide, wherever you are. Please, please, please; let us , each one of us, try to make peace with our neighbor. Start first in your own neighborhood. Is there someone you have been quarreling with for some time? Make peace, be the first to stretch out your hand in reconciliation. Is there some that you have on your list of "unforgiveables"? Do you know people who you wont speak to? In your eyes, they have crossed that one line and you can't forgive them? Please, go now and forgive them, make peace. Are you in Authority, do you set rules and intiate wars? Do you hold the power in your hands? Are you able with one push of a button to destroy a whole nation? Rethink your authority, all authority comes from God. Use it as God would have you do. Do not continue to fuel flames of hatred! God is love; He is not hate. To insist that you encourage fighting in the name of God is completely ludacrist! God is not a God of war and bloodshed. He is a God of peace and unity. Next time you are considering a quarrel, next time you are contemplating a hateful word; yes, next time you find you are tempted to ignore someone in need; remember, one little light, however small, is still light where everything else is dark.. Be a light, be forgiving, build bridges and let this year of 2007 be a year of Reconcilliation : (c) littlefranciscan joy pachowicz

I totally agree with you.Our God is a God of Hope and love and Peace, not one of hatred and wars and killing. Some of us need to pray to be reminded of the ones we may have hurt or been hurt by so that we can forgive them and truly love thy neighbor as it is written by our God.

I like your way of thinking, I think if the world can think like this things could be different, I feel with some big issues in the world some things have gone way too far for forgiveness but it would be nice if we at least can be at peace in out ouwn space, you certainly are making a difference sharing these thoughts, thank you and lets hope it works....

For some forgiveness has limitations..but for me..when I think of how many times I must seek forgiveness..even if the gravity of my wrongs are smaller..I realize that we all stand as beggars in the line for forgiveness..Somewhere I read: "the measure you measure out, will be measured out to you" Forgiveness doesn't condone the wrong done.. it simply opens the door for change.+

your post has had me thinking. yes i would like to reconcile with a few people this year. but there are 1-2 people who have upset me so much that i think i will take more time to make my peace with them. though you are right in your thoughts, there are some hurts in life thats not easy to repair. but even i dont believe in lingering conflicts for too long so maybe one day this year i might just ring that person and tell them that i have forgiven.

Just because you forgive someone doesn't mean you approve of the action that started the grievance. It doesn't mean either that you forget what happened..It simply means you are willing to stretch out your hand in peace and start again:)__+

Great discussion topic. I love your way of thinking and agree with you whole heartedly. We need more people thinking this way.

That is a nice thought...and I hope that it can be started...However..there are some people that you just can't forgive...and there are others that I don't want to be friends with...because they are just horrible people...there are those kind of people in this world..So ..I would say rather do the best you can to be nice to everyone...but there are those that you should just avoid too...

Communication and Love of Mankind are tools which should be enabled before war. When we see injustice we should work towards that peace and to right wrongs no matter who is wrong. we can push our government toward helping with peace in the world instead of fomenting war.

I think we must remember that in the USA we are the government and if we sit idly by and allow things to go on in our name without raising a fuss then we are culpable when things bad are done. Like the prisoner abuse and the attacks on countrys that our country carries out.

Of course we are a government but even the government can set a standard of reconciliation.. Fighting doesn't always have to be the answer!+

I'm not a huge fan of new years resolutions as much as I am in keeping check of my life, life style and actions throughout the year and perhaps making changes when needed. It seems that the 'trend' of resolutions usually ends up in being unkept promises for most. Good luck with yours... and perhaps others will take heed in what you've said! Happy New Year.
