Great question!!! It depends how old the children are, and how good they are around dogs. Also, it depends on the amount of time and effort you intend to put in with training. This does not just apply with miniature pinschers, however. It applies with any dog that you may get.
Min pins are only snappy if you do not train them that it is not okay, from a very very young age. My dog (he is a min pin) never EVER snaps at me, even when we are playing rough. He is trained to give me kisses instead of nips. And, if he tries to nip, I just tell him "Give kisses" and he does it, because he is trained to.
Dogs and very young children usually do not mix. Unless, like I have stated, you begin training under a professional immediatly upon getting your puppy. My miniature pinscher is the sweetest dog I've ever had. I firmly believe this is due to his intensive training when he was a pup.
My advice would be to get a miniature pinscher if you feel that it will fit your lifestyle. Get him from a GOOD BREEDER! (Message me if you'd like a list of a few who ship all over the US) Don't be afraid to pay a little more. It will help you in the long run. Also, a good thing to do if you get this pup would be to get him an exercise pen for when he is in the house, but you can not watch him. ONLY ALLOW THE CHILD AROUND THE PUP UNDER CLOSE SUPERVISION!!!!
Dogs are a wonderful part of every child's life. If you do it right, a min pin may be the perfect addition to your family! I hope that helps!
