Are you for or Against the Death Penalty?

This is certainly a question that I'm on the fence about. Taking a life is as wrong as the one the criminal has taken, yet now it's justified? On the other hand given some of the heinous crimes and innocent victims we should want to protect society from them ever repeating this act again and thus sending a powerful message to others that no way is this tolerated. I can't say for certain which way I want to go on this issue --I'm half for and half against I guess.

I am against it except when there's solid proof beyond all reasonable doubt in the case of mass murderers, etc. There have been too many instances when people were killed only to find out later that they were innocent. Its also bcoz DNA technology has shown that many were wrongly convicted and executed. Is it just to execute an innocent person.
