This may seem like a generalization, but as an online poker player you are constantly in the pursuit of money. Constantly trying to find an edge against an opponent, the opponents you generally make money off most likely being a mindless gambler squandering his months rent money.
As a skilled player who earns a “buy in” off an opponent, you are maybe stealing a rent payment from your opponent. In poker you are making your money off of another persons losses, however how great are there losses, and is it their own fault?
Many people argue that the people losing money would find another outlet to gamble away their money whether it be a casino, sports book, or horse track. Others go as far to say that most players are recreational and to not worry about the repercussion.
My question is, how do you feel about making your money off the misery of others?Or is it not even that big of a deal, is the scenario with the rent squandering gambler exaggerated and sensationalized?
