Yes, it is and some other interesting facts about the skull are:
1. it is composed of facial and cranial bones
2. it protects the brain and most main sense organs (eyes, ears, tongue and nose)
3. there are 14 bones in the face
4. the mandible (lower jaw) is not considered part of the skull
5. fontanels (soft spots on babies) close by the age of 2
6. sutures do not permanently fuse until age 20
7. a bigger skull does not mean a bigger brain!
