What is the meaning of " Born Again " ?

Does it mean that you become a new person by stopping all your old bad habits, or does it mean that you are seeing life in a whole new manner? Does someone influence you to be 'born again'?

We people say they are born again, that means they have stop doing all the things they use to do. and that they have gave their whole life to God.

as far as i can tell it means that the religion that the person was in (which is the only religion anyone should join if they were smart) changes their mind and joins another religion (the old religion that they believed in is rubbish and the new one is the truth).
this can happen many times
if they made up their minds for themselves they would never change but religions (cults) have a way of informing (brainwashing) people into which ever religion (cult) they are with at that time
