I think the thing that helps me save money more than anything is staying out of stores! I mean, just staying home instead of running here for that and there for something else. Most of the time, I can save money by finding substitutes for whatever I think I just have to have.

When breaking your dollars put the change in a jar and if you and your spouse does this you could really rack up.

The best money saving tip by far is Paying Yourself First! Automaticaly transfer a portion of your paycheck to a savings account every two weeks will do the trick! Before you know it, you'll have a respectable nest egg.

Only take with you the amount of money you need to buy the item(s) that you really need. Don't take extra money, cards, checks, or anything with you. Also, if I see something I want and it's not on sale, I make myself wait until it goes on sale. Usually by then I have forgotten about it or decided I really didn't need it anyway.

In my opinion, I prefer invesing other then saving, because I believe the more you spend the more you can earn. Invest in mitual funds, that will be benificiary.

I shop with exact cash i intend to spend. I leave the kids with Dad and stick to the grocery list.
My husband and I have two separate checking accounts - mine only keeping what i need in a given month. His holds the money needed for monthly bills. We have a joint savings account that we put all extra money in and DON'T TOUCH IT.

Keep things simple, by within your means. Invest what spare money you have wisely into some form of a high interest saving account.

Decrease your needs first. Don't put too much money in your pocket. Don't go to the stores a lot. Keep thinking in your mine that you got a save this money for your family and kids.Try to avoid your needs and shopping. If you go out a lot then you spend money a lot. So stay home as much as u can on weekends.

Any money I receive, 50% goes into savings. Unfortunately this savings gets depleted every month from tuition payments. So in a sense my savings is actually being spent. Argh... now I have to rework my finances...

Never carry ANY cash with you! This way you are never tempted, but you have none! My kids hate this, but boy am I saving money I never wanted to spend in the first place. And ONLY use credit cards for TRUE emergencies.
