Uploading photos...

So I just recently decided that uploading photos to this site might be an advantageous way to boost my income. Mostly because last night when I got home, I didn't feel like doing much talking. So I uploaded 12 photos that I've taken at one point or another over the past three years. I didn't know how to gauge the amount I would earn from them, but I was under the impression that I would see some significant cash flow from these photos. Nope. When my account updated today, I had made a grand total of $0.02 (and I think I might have gotten that on the one response I did yesterday).
Now, because I own a website, I am very conscious about making sure that my photos are not huge (in filesize). However, I'm not sure if others on this site are so conscious. I also don't know if there is a size limit for our photos (maybe I should read the terms again). Nevertheless, I believe most of my photos are about 50 kb, or less. Does anyone see a significant amount of income coming from their photo uploads? I"m beginning to think that the more bandwidth we use, the more they will pay us. Can anyone back this up? Thanks for your responses in advance.

I think you get paid for your photos mostly when you add them to your responses. I don't think adding them to your profile helpos unless youf friends leave comments on them. I may be wrong but that is what I have heard and it seems to work that way.

OK, I understand now. I certainly don't want to just add random photos to my responses and discussions, so perhaps I'll have to find meaningful ways to tie those into my discussions. Also, since posting, I've been going to the profiles of some of my friends and have noticed that their photos are also relatively small. Thanks for the great response.

Awesome. This is good a good thing to remember. I'm not sure how quickly I will get to a 500 rating, but then again, I thought it would take me forever to get to 100. I guess I was wrong about how addictive this site can become. Later and thanks for the response.

I think that they changed the rules to stop paying for the photos like they once did? I could be wrong but I think that you can use them in posts and also put them up, but the pay is not what it was

So far, I have referred only two people, but they have not done anything yet, so I have not reaped any benefit from their posting. To those with a lot of referrals: Are these a good way to make more money on myLot? I really believe in this community and it's nice to have the added bonus of making money on here. At first I came here for the earnings, but I really think that this is a beneficial place and I want more of my friends to join in AND take an active interest in myLot.

I have added 1 picture and that made me .01 cents. Not much but I might try and add some more. I really need to try and get some referrals.

It is because you have uploaded the photos on your profile page. You have to post photos on your discussions (the discussions you started) so that myLot will pay for it. I remember the first time I uploaded personal photos, it says that this will not increase your earnings.
Maybe you just missed reading that part. Anyway you can only add photos to your replies when you already reached five hundred rating.
Rating is the number that appears on the right side of your username.
So you can only get paid when starting new discussions and have your photos within those discussions. Just keep in mind that the photos has something to do with that thing you posted.
I hope I helped you out with this post I made. Just keep in mind that you wont get rich with myLot haha.

I remember reading that part, but I guess I misunderstood it. I thought it was referring to only my profile picture that shows up with all of my posts. I assumed that if I uploaded other photos to my profile that they would count. I guess that is where I was mistaken. Thanks for clearing it up.

Well, if it helps, I think the money I did earn yesterday was from a post I made in a discussion topic, not for the photos. Oh well, I'm better at sharing my opinion than my photography anyway. It's nice to be rewarded for both. Thanks for the reply.

as far as i know u only earn from photos that u upload in response to discussions, and the photos have to be relevant as well. if u earn by uploading photos to ur own profile i guess everyone would just stick to that..:D

Not to my knowledge. You dont get paid for uploading photos to your profile. In the responses if you upload photos you get money but I dont think its alot. Someone wrote a discussion on here saying you get money for your photos being rated but I have yet to figure out how to do that.

I think that you can earn more here by replying to topics of discussion than by adding photos. It seems to me like it's a bit difficult to figure out public domain images to add to relevant discussions, though I am seeing people on here who seem quite good at doing it, and since it should earn them an extra cent per post I say why not? So I will probably try it out once I get past 500 posts. But I'm not sure if I will be able to find that many relevant photos for the discussions that I will be posting. Good luck! I do believe that keeping your photos smaller is best, as well. ^_^

what kind of picture should i upload to get paid actually? i do not have any clear idea.can you tell me.

No, no matter how large the image size, it will not change the amount they pay. Even though I can not give you a limit size, I can say that I have tried to upload some images and they just failed. I assumed that it is because they were straight from the camera and had the meta data on it. So, as soon as I opened and saved it again to get rid of the meta data attached to it, it worked just fine. :)
But...I have to say, we do not get paid much for photos.
We problem get a penny for every 7 or 10 loaded. Because I have loaded many pics also and only received a few pennies. So, I gave up on loading photos. If I have a photo that pertains to the subject, I will post it. If not, it really isn't going to make that much of a difference.
Welcome to myLot!

Your photo earnings are broken down on the earnings page. No, it doesn't matter whether you add photos straight to your profile of if you add one to a discussion. They are all worth $0.01. I added two to my profile when I first joined and I added one to a discussion the other day and I see that they all paid out the same.

Yes, this is very helpful. Thank you for the added information. I don't know how often I will be able to do that uploading to discussion topics, but hopefully I have some photos that are relevant to some discussions.

Uploading photos is a wonderful thing. Firstly, others get to see more than just words. Secondly, we are paid for the photos. I am planning to upload more photos this year. There are lots and lots of great photos of my country.
