does reading an email pay you?

i have joined a couple of sites telling that they pay you for reading e-mails does that really work?

well i have only joined donkeymails.com I have not been paid by them as i have joined them just 3-4 days ago... But my friend got paid by them through e-gold....which sites do you have joined?

I'm sure there are a ton of scams out there. The only one I know for sure pays is Mypoints.com. They don't pay cash, but you can earn gift cards for retailers. I earn at least 2 $50 gift cards a year just opening emails.
