Red rose for valentine

Hi all the next upcoming great festival all over the world is Valentine, which falls on febraury 14th of every year. And there is a question i have is 'Why the rose has become the symbol of valentine' and what is the reason behind that. Can anyone answer this question?

I do belive that a rose is like love, Beautiful, red and just beautiful... but it can also sting you and leave pain =)
Personally I love roses in all colors and my man doesn´t have to get me red ones.. Flowers of any kind makes me happy =)

Yah ofcourse all flowers smells, give blossoms, fragrances. But when Valentine comes all of the lovers shares especially Red roses only. But I also agree your comments. Next time you ask your lover for red rose. ;-)
