Who is your favorite character from a book you have read?
I read Alexandre Dumas' "The Count of Monte Cristo" and absolutely loved the story.
Edmond Dantes (also known as The Count of Monte Cristo later in the story) is the main character who is falsely imprisoned, suffers, is betrayed, becomes angry and bitter. While in prison he becomes hopeless and longs for his own death before meeting Abbe Faria, an Italian priest who becomes his mentor... and he also helps him escape.
Without giving more of the story away, I will say that the reason I like this character so much is because he is a man who suffers much, but also learns to live and love much!
His is the classic tale of hope... forgiveness, and redemption.
He is similiar to one of my favorite movie characters, Andy Dufresne from "The Shawshank Redemption".
If you read "The Count of Monte Cristo" you will not be disappointed.
