Why are crimes commited at Disneyland not reported in the newspaper?

I worked for Disneyland for 5 years. Overall it was a pleasent experience. However I do know that crimes were commited there and never reported in the paper. In one instance, an armed robber held up a family in the parking lot. He was discovered and tried to get away. I was one of the people that assisted security in chasing him across the parking lot. He tossed his gun in a planter and 'then gave up. This incident did not appear in the paper. I guess the city of Anaheim feels it must protect Disneyland since it is such a great source of revenue.

I didn't know about this incident until you told me. It is surprising that such things are not reported. As you said the most obvious reason is safe guarding the reputation. Disneyland is definitely a huge source of revenue and any such event is bound to cast doubts on the safety of visiting the place.
